This Forum. Why so basic?

I think a few more avatars would be good as I have been looking at the same ones for years :p. But I prefer them to having custom avatars, as they make the forum look a mess.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

+1. Ban the OP aswell. :p
The way it is now is classy, not looking childish as some of the sites do with big, garish, sigs and avatars. Allowing individualism, though not to the detriment of what this is all about; a forum for like-minded (Or not so.) to help and discuss ****.
Also we get enough Youtube vids posted as it is.

I think it is rather eloquent in its own way.

The minimalistic approach works very well and makes it a joy to navigate. Some forums are bombarded with millions of adverts and a bombastic array of colours which puts me off altogether.

I've never really thought about the appearance as the only other forum I used to frequent daily had the same colour scheme. This place could look like bash.org or just plain black and white and I'd still come here. The advice is top notch and the community is really good too.

I wouldn't mind individual Avatars... being new to the forum and also being a more visual person (which means I'm **** remembering names) this would help me to associate members to posts.

This was pretty much the only thing I found slightly confusing when I joined the forum, plus I never realised that there is no PM system (just assumed it would be there, not that I have missed it so far

I think there is little need to change.

The only thing I dislike is the total ban on **** and ****. Oh, and **** is right out.

mine looks the same on chrome and IE

I don't like the idea of PMs, we have trust which does the job.

I don't get the issue with the colour scheme either, its easy to read and isn't in your face.

I worked out why it was broken. It's actually Chrome and IE that have the problem and you can read about it in this thread if you like. I just fixed it in chrome for me.

Signatures are great for that! Some people have had the same signatures for many years so they do tend to stick in your head.

Its disappointing the the forum for an IT company is so basic. All the long stayers here will defend it saying its functional, doesn't require changing etc. One of other forums I use is for Mortal Kombat

I think it looks way more modern yet remains functional, allows status updates, staff online etc. Way nicer imo.

That looks cluttered and terrible, this doesn't. Out of all the forums i frequent this is by far the nicest to look at (even with the blue which would be much nicer as grey imo), with the ones coming close second having no sig/avatar limitations but also a bit of extra clutter.

This really. As long as Tefal keeps the toaster.

No. That is not his original and it bugs me because I know him by his old one.

Then again, it's actually been so long now that I can't remember his old one so maybe I'll shut up :D

that's a hideous homepage, too cluttered and too much going on.

Matter of opinion. This looks like a relic of 1999 to me.

I mean seriously, no tapatalk functionality.... still!!??

Agreed, opinion is fine, but this forum obviously looks just fine for a vast amount of opinions otherwise it wouldn't be so popular.

Why is it needed? I finally got a phone with a decent sized screen and it works just fine in a browser.

Its very hard to get a great forum going with worthy users helping out with advise etc, OCUK is the best forum around and I like the look of it. I think "ANONANON" should maybe focus on the content or maybe make his own little forum where he can embed youtube clips all day long.
