Fighting crime = people that put milk in tea first.
You're supposed to put the milk in first and pour in tea brewed in a teapot from loose leaves.
The purpose of putting the milk in first is so that the heat shock of pouring the tea into your fine bone china tea cup is reduced.
If you're not from 1790 (and you're not my Nan) and you are using a porcelain mug however, you may as well put the milk in last so it is easier to judge the amount of milk you are adding.
But I can't hate people who put the milk in first. Because that is the proper old time British way.

Well, I have applied for a job as an apprentice engineer (job title sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me but I'd be cutting gears etc) at a precision machine shop.
Fingers crossed on this one. Will be a massive change of tack from working with computers and software support my whole adult life. Basically starting over.

Potentially putting my name down to buy a flat next week. Bit of a shock because I had no intention of doing this until next year when I might have a better idea of what I want, but financially it ticks all the boxes, location is very convenient and it's realistic for my circumstances.

I trained to use a lathe as part of my cadetship, spending every Friday for two years in the workshop, and I loved it, I found it really satisfying and rewarding. It’s just a shame that once I qualified, that it isn’t really a part of my job anymore.

In other news my SIL is a complete butt hole. I mean, we all knew this already based on her previous behaviour but she's apparently said that because my nephew won't speak to her or her girlfriend he's not allowed to go on holiday with them and his brothers and sister.
really?! Who does that? She doesn't even have the decency to tell him directly, she's trying to get my brother to tell him.
I cannot wait for the day the others are old enough to understand all the BS that comes out of her mouth.
Ah well, I still take great joy in remembering the time I put her in her place
....
