When I'm brave enough I will start a vegan thread, ethical, empathy wise rather than recipes, I was discussing it with a fellow surfer in polzeath yesterday, I was a 49 year meat eater (hence I can't preach too much ;)) then veggie then vegan, he has just gone to the veggie stage and was asking advice.
Stopping the car to let lame milk cows across the road (took maybe 15 mins) really made me feel I am doing the right thing,
Health wise a really bad excma patch has disappeared (I was advised steroids) and I feel a better chance of not getting nastys like bowel cancer

Yeah sorry guys wrong thread really, it's about instant and moment, not me giving my opinion on yours :p , as said will start a vegan one if no one else does just to discus the issues, in the mean time wull soak up any flack, just digging a pond in the garden taking Afew mins time out

Its good to see the .au govt has today announced a Royal Commission into veteran suicides. Maybe something will get done.

Booooo salad!

LOL. :D:D

Ok, come on LB, may i have a decent vegan recipie.

That is preferably eaten hot and is also filling and not overly spicy please?
Thank you. :)
Well the cold season's fading but I really like this soup as a simple one, only takes me 15 minutes:

Fry an onion and some garlic til soft
Add smoked paprika and chili flakes if you like
Add 1 chopped red pepper, tin of black beans, tin of tomatoes, stir for a bit
Add about 500ml "chicken" stock (often vegan)
Whizz with a blender stick
Salt, pepper and nutritional yeast to taste
Serve with nice bread :D

Cheap and easy but great for cold nights!

Honestly though loads of food is easy to convert, my diet hasn't changed much. We even have greasy burgers once a week now! Bangers and mash - just get vegan sausages, Christmas dinner is all trimmings plus nut roast. Etc. :)

Might have to make soup tonight...

God my mother is so frustrating at times.

She's had back pain for a while and a couple of weeks ago she stupidly lifted something too heavy and made it worse. I recommended some stretches to help etc as it sounded like sciatica.
She keeps saying no to doing stuff now (I.e. going out for a gentle walk somewhere) because of her back and last weekend when we were out she came over sick. I told her she might need to book in to see the physio at the GP surgery. (Which she ignored)

Cut to today and she said her back pain has spread to her groin. I've told her she needs to go to docs as it could be a UTI/kidney infection. She's now using any excuse for it though contradicted herself saying the sciatica has gone and the pain is on the other side of her back. I've said again to get it checked out and made a point of how stubborn my dad was with not going sooner.

I get back "it's on the right side now not the left" told her that she has a kidney each side so that's irrelevant. Her latest reply is she'll see how it goes

She went on and on about how my dad should have gone to doctors sooner when he was having issues and kept saying if he had maybe the cancer would have been detected sooner etc. She would constantly moan how stubborn he was and yet she's doing the exact same thing!

I've told her if it's not better by end of the week then she's got to book docs

/rant over

Urgh parents can be so annoying with things like that, hope you can convince her to go to drs. :)

Thank you Lucky however a thin bean soup and a bit of bread is not going to be a subsatnial evening meal now is it! :p

Thank you @secretspy will look at that one. :)
