Anyone uses brand new carrier bags have more money than sense. Bin bags are cheaper per bag, bigger and tie them up properly.

Some people still buy bags each shop visit. They must be wasting £105-130 a year based on 10 bags per week.

How many weeks of grocery shopping is that?

Tbf i i forget mine sometimes but always keep them in the car ,so if i have a basket i will carry them (tough work with a big lidl basket) or use a cardboard box and obviously recycle it ,or wheel the trolley to the car..

It is very wasteful. I have a couple of reusable waitrose bags as their handles don't hurt my hands when I walk back home.

Flipping work laptop has been huffing and puffing for 26 minutes doing **** knows what. Between company antivirus, Windows itself and the Office suite (Teams), it's just constantly loaded down.

It's a fast machine just crippled by crap software choices. I hate it. I did a tactical reboot because I'm in the office tomorrow and this is what I get

Tried my hand at scifi this morning, then quit.

The Onstant Millenium

Upon the planet Eupluri in the year 13.9billion and 2022 first arose the secret of conquering a rapidly collapsing climate, arking its species, and ensuring the survival and rethrival of all on the planet by immediately ruling the Universe using the immanent superior force of the Qantaia.

This was to be the story of its ancient and modern enabling forces, its blockchains and Strategic Econophysics (Integrated Maxwellian, Einsteinian, Newtonian and Qantum) modus operandi at 'human-like' behaviour scale.

Pfft.

Windows 10/11 does a lot of **** in the background - a not uncommon issue with laptops and the more recent updates I've noticed is that the memory scanning maintenance tasks malfunction and either sit there using 100% of one core constantly when idle, forever, or incorrectly trigger when the system transitions out of idle and starts going for at-least 30 minutes, sometimes longer or constantly, slowing everything down.

All too familiar. I find it ridiculous that we have a Microsoft product (Surface Laptop) running MS operating system and MS software, and it's the most flaky/unpredictable machine I've ever had.

My plan is to set up a Linux box for actual work at home, and then keep the laptop for just running Teams/Office and email, comms etc

Why is so hard to find competence anymore. Ordered a freezer for one of our work places, delivery time 1-3 days, but no-one is going to be there until next week so I put a note on the order asking if they can deliver it next Weds, the 22nd. I didn't even trust that so I rang the company after to verbally confirm, and the sales lady actually phoned the couriers while I waited on hold and came back to me, yep no problem all confirmed.

They tried to deliver it today

I've had this about 4 times recently. Sign up for Virgin Media broadband - lets you pick a day to have router delivered - pick a day - they delivered it a day early on Good Friday. We didn't get keys to the house til the day after!

Again with delivery of some PVC window trims 5 metres long - "We'll give you a call to see if you're home". Nothing for a month. I go to the store (only round the corner but my car isn't 5m long!). Ohhh hello I've tried to deliver these a few times.

Been a few weeks since I have been given a CPAP machine for exercise, still amazed by its effects to help me workout. I have my bike set up with the turbo trainer to have a good session in the shed. Need to get power out to to by autumn/ winter I think.

Started a business this year, almost by happenchance, buying and selling antiques and collectables. This month should see good progress, the logistics affect profitability more than I anticipated. "Global outreach" has helped sales.

After lockdowns and being unable to even find a dentist locally never mind able to get in the door to see one finally found one earlier this year and... need bridging work and two teeth extracted. Been told I have to visit a specialist NHS clinic to have said teeth removed as theres a chance they could break off. Had to go back into dentists for multiple x-rays yesterday as the clinic weren't satisfied with the ones they were given. I've been given the option for sedation before the extractions, I'm warming to the idea...

I didn't even try putting 10 on my ageing laptop I just ditched 7 and put linux on it instead. Good enough for what I use it for

I'd definitely go for the sedative option!

Had total brake failure last night on my old Fabia ,i see this as lucky as very near home so managed on handbrake only ,was on the m25 last week so could have been a lot worse
Anyway the pads had loads of meat on them but 1 lining became detached ,grinding and no stopping followed (pumping pedal gave me horrendous grinding and limited braking),i fitted new discs and pads this morning ,need to change on a time schedule rather than thickness ,salt air maybe
would post in motors but i get blanked there ,tumbleweed every time gave up a long time ago ,not bitter though

Glad you're safe (y).

Blew out two disgusting 1.5 and 2 inch snot/blood scabs from somewhere deep in my nose or sinuses. I had Septoplasy operation (and other stuff) on may 10th, so this is the 'fall out' of that lol. Will take about 3 months to fully recover, allow I do have a complication with an implant that may need to be removed depending on how it sits (aids breathing).

Also gave an interview (and will be doing more) for the first time. Was very interesting.
