oh is it one of those " over a back field, through an industrial estate, in an underground tunnel, turn left 50 times, turn right 50 times, forward 1 mile on a straight road. You have reached your destination ".

PS doesn't Google Maps do walk over? :p

Google maps doesn't help, it tries to direct you to walk over a bridge over a canal with a sharp turn (so it's blind to the driver if there is someone on it) that has no pedestrian walk path. Completely dangerous to walk on over that 200m section of the route. So as to not risk my life, you have to do a walk around over the canal with like a mile detour.

The car can do that route but I also chose not to, it's to do with getting onto that road require doing a right hand turn at a very busy cross section this time of the day where I have no right of way and can sit there for ages. So to drive it's about 3miles, or walk through some estate, down along the canal and out come the path onto a park and then cut across the beer garden of a pub is 2 miles.

I find it strange how we've normalised driving such short trips. It's about 7 minutes to cycle 2 miles. :o
With my new office/house location I'm finding I drive to work because it's just that bit too far to walk - something like 2.7 miles which would be over 45 minutes. And would be rubbish in very hot or very cold/wet weather.

But the 15 minute drive on a traffic free day feels really wrong to be doing on a daily basis :(

Need to get a pushbike clearly.

Electric bike, half the journey on full belt electric and the other half pedel.

Just had a massive rage over some recently published government stats which are carefully presented. It took me a few minutes of poking around to work their byzantine method to produce something vaguely positive-sounding.

Jeez, whoever provided those figures should hang their head in shame.

Does anybody else like getting into the office early when it's quiet but then also love the slow ebb and flow of people coming in?

Probably just me. Then again I've always got into the office between 7-745. :)

Get one through cycle to work scheme if you can. Lowers your tax liabilities as well.

Yay, I just saw the bats out the back garden, for the first time this year.

Still no swifts about- and I didn't see/ hear them last year, for the first time ever. That is not good.
