got to the airport bang on schedule for once, but baggage drop not open for another hour (4:30am).

Personally always like early starts when flying, especially if due to distance or time zones you arrived at the start of the destination day.
Yep. Agree with that one. Flying to Madeira. Flight 8am. Landed 12pm (same time zone as UK). Got through passport control and collected suitcases at 12:50pm. 25 min taxi ride to hotel. Put suitcases in luggage room. Checked in. Unable to pick up keycards til 3pm.

Sat at poolside bar with first of many Corals (Madeira’s local ber) at 1:40pm!

There are some European destinations such as Greek islands and Turkey where the flights are mid afternoon. Along with the 4-5 hour flights the time difference (2 hours ahead Turkey and Cyprus) and some resorts in the latter are 3 hour transfer. My friend landed in Dalaman and stayed in Lara Beach. 3 hour transfer. She didn’t get to hotel til 2:40am. If you can sleep on plane and/or coach, not an issue. I can’t sleep on transport. Hate it when Day one is you in the air.

My colleague’s late husband came from Turkey and discovered a few morning flights. But most package holidays to Turkey have late flights.

Weirdly I got an invite for an NHS place when half the county struggle to find one
Prioritising boomers is a sensible policy though don't you think?

This the representation for (er, what's the current term?) Aboriginal citizens in parliament thing?

Yes something like that, I went to an early voting station. The main vote is this Saturday.

e. "Indigenous Voice to Parliament Referendum" is what it's called. Aimed at changing the Australian Constitution.
