This Instant And Moment - 2026!

It's snowed heavily enough here that we weren't sure we could get the car out of our road yesterday. And now the gritting lorry drivers have gone on strike.

Bye loosers.

Back to minus 28 Celsius from a toasty minus 3 in London.
All our cases are absolutely maxed on allowance, most of it is reggae reggae sauce and Paxo.
Always nice to see London and the fam, but always nice to get back to some structure after nearly 4 weeks off :p
I booked an extra two days off then its the weekend too... Gotta ease back into the hectic life and start planning for ww3.

I could guess that it's 99% the same except the sign posts :p

Probably, although i think I went slightly a bit more north, Yllas to be exact in Finland, about 3 hour 40 min drive from Norrbotten in Sweden

Oh yeah that's a fair north norther.
I have a work colleague from the area on the Swedish side. 99.8% sure it looks the same now.

Buy some magnetic tape, and use it to attach a removable cardboard panel to the window. Works an absolute treat.

Or, if you dont want to look like a squatter, you can contact the council as they'll do things like relocate it or fit shrouds.

did the shroud thing already, it's just the light is so close to the house the shroud doesn't do jack :(
reading around it seems like people can sometimes move lights at their own expense, but there's nowhere else to put it really so I don't see that working out.

interesting idea, will look into that
happens to be a dust-mite allergy safe idea, which is why I can't just get blackout curtains or w/e most people do.

Had delicious lamb for my birthday supper. Om nom nom. And tasty wine too.

You can always make it decorative if you're precious about such things *shrug*

Get shutters on the outside of the window? Also great if the sun hits the window in the summer. (for keeping the heat out).

Back to work tomorrow after two weeks off. Good news is that I've booked a holiday for next month to enjoy a bit of winter sun.

The streetlight right outside my bedroom window got repaired. No sleep can occur until it breaks again.

p.s. anyone know how to break a streetlight?

You can complain about the impact of the light on your sleep, if you have kids then mention it impacts them too. They can put a shield in the light that prevents the light spill.

Partner tripped over in the yard and fell flat on face onto some forklift tines, splitting her forehead open. Took her to A&E by 6pm, had a scan at 10pm and have just seen a doctor now. Waiting to see if she needs a stitch or glue.

They just announced its a 9 hr wait to see a doctor and 31hrs for a bed. There's an old lady laid out on the seats in the waiting room, wrapped in blankets, who's been there for 30hrs already.

I expect we'll be 12hrs by the time we get home.

Fingers crossed that the cut is the only damage.

Am off to get a new battery for my car so that I can fetch a new wood burner for the house.

I hadn’t realised my 2017 Duster still had the OEM Romanian battery or it would have been replaced sooner.
