this is shocking

It's a shame it will cost you a fortune in electricity (especially so heavily overclocked) negating the price difference between it and an X2 processor.

Defintely one for people who don't pay their own leccy bills!

nice comparing a overclocked cpu to a stock one.... nice fair test, dont worry most 3800+'s will 2.7+ which should keep them in the top 5 on that list

edit: P4 is still better value though...

Just trying mine @ 3.8ghz with 1.5v and it seems (touch wood) stable. Although toasty and loud on stock cooling :p

How much does a board that supports the 805D + DDR2 ram cost relative to an A64 board + DDR ram?

I got my mobo for £35 from the B-grade and 2x256mb ddr2 pc4200 for £14 from the 'bay.

That certainly makes a nice cheap system for you rakiri :)

How about non B grade prices though? Is there much of a premium on the intel boards vs amd, particularly at the budget end?

I've been looking just now and the board which overclock well with the D, such as the one rakiri has is quite expensive compared to AMD boards..:(

Budget end is pretty much non existent if you want to overclock unfortunately. You can get the non deluxe version of my board for £65 though and it has the same BIOS settings/voltages etc. just missing a few little things like firewire.

Oh, I also got one of those 128mb x800gto's for £46 Bargaintastic second computer...and a new 430w seasonic for £40 :D

Well at 3.6 and 1.45v it was 36c idle 55c load.

It didnt like 3.8 so it is now at 3.7 and 1.5v, load is nearing 60c on stock cooling (both cores @ 100%)

I'll probably get a freezer pro for it, does the job on my athlon 64.
