me too :D but the motherboard for this thing is quite pricey if you want a decent one so ..:(

Yeah this is true they are quite up there the prices! I doubt id bother to get a water cooler for it unless their were cheapish decent ones around that would work well with it

I've got same mobo and processor.
You don't need that ram beacause the fastest you can run it is 2:1 with FSB
So at 200FSB 4Ghz Ram is 400mhz
I have this

Corsair 1GB DDR2 Value Select PC5300 Dual Channel Kit (2x512MB) (VS1GBKIT667D2) (MY-083-CS)

Pins: 2 x 240
- PR Rating (PC): PC5300
- Clock Speed (MHz): 667MHz
- CAS Latency (ns): 3.0
- Module Configuration:
- Warranty: Lifetime
- Corsair Part Number: VS1GBKIT667D2

Price: £59.95 (£70.44 Including VAT at 17.5%)

It happily does 400mhz 5-4-4-12 @1.95V

More value to add to the processor!

but it would be better if running at 1:1 ?
1:1 with this chip will only take the ram up to 400mhz (DDR) or maybe a little higher. You could run 2:1 (800mhz ddr) but I seriously doubt it would take advantage of it.

Patriot Signature 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (PSD22G667K) (MY-001-PA)
Price: £119.95 (£140.94 Including VAT at 17.5%)

That would be far better IMO, costs less and you get twice as much.

I've done a fair bit of testing with DDR2 and found that when running 2:1 Timings make very little difference.
You tend to get used to running memory slower than FSB and timing is important but when your memory runs twice as fast as FSB and dual channel Timing makes very little real time difference.
The secret with DDR2 is run it as fast as possible at all costs.

What's recommended above will be fine if you want 2GB or,

Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC5300 Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT667D2) (MY-097-CS)
The Value Select line provides quality, tested, compatible desktop memory at competitive prices. The Value Select line is qualified for major current desktop systems. All Value Select modules are backed by Corsair''s comprehensive lifetime warranty.

- Pins: 2 x 240
- PR Rating (PC): PC5300
- Clock Speed (MHz): 667MHz
- CAS Latency (ns): 3.0
- Module Configuration:
- Warranty: Lifetime
- Corsair Part Number: VS2GBKIT667D2

Price: £114.95 (£135.07 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Your choice

even with that ram, u can still get 1:1 anyway so what's the point of running at 2:1?

edit: ahh i understand now, got me confused for a bit :p

yeah sorry i was thinking of old 1:2 :p

so if i want 4GHZ, 200mhz FSB is needed, so 400DDR2 (PC3200) is needed but above this would be better

like this

Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC4200 Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT533D2) (MY-096-CS)

- Pins: 2 x 240
- PR Rating (PC): PC4200
- Clock Speed (MHz): 533MHz
- CAS Latency (ns): 3.0
- Module Configuration:
- Warranty: Lifetime
- Corsair Part Number: VS2GBKIT533D2

would it be ok?

That will be fine but for the extra tenner get the,

Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC5300 Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT667D2) (MY-097-CS)

It will do 2:1 with a slight overclock where I doubt the one you've selected will.

You'll still get higher than 1:1 though but forget about going for tight timings 1:1 it doesn't compete with 2:1

Unless you're benching though don't worry about it.

EDIT: To clarify 200mhz FSB 1:1 = DDR2 400 PC3200
200mhz FSB 2:1 = DDR2 800 PC6400 (which the PC5300 above will do 5-4-4-12 @ 1.95V)

3940 stable with my freezer pro... hot.. hitting 76c 100% both procs, but damn! this is a hell of an performance boost from stock!

/me goes off th look for a mach II... (dual 5ghz here we come \o/)

Thats a pretty fancy cigarette lighter you have there.

Would a Asus P5VD1-X motherboard not work with this chip?

No voltage control  Even my old kt7a had that I think. I wouldnt mind if the AGP locked but I suppose it doesnt either.

How about a Asustek P5LD2, I havent used an intel since P75 days

Hmm im seriously considering this now as the route to go for a upgrade

I just bought a x1800xt and am using it with my clawhammer +3400 754. This has really caught my eye! Works out a lot cheaper than going down the 2 core AMD route even if the mobos are a tad expensive, this rig has the potential to be better or on par with some of the top AMD CPUs according to them benchmarks.

*keeps researching!*
