This is the start of the end... lol.. well I hope not.

This is my food and drink intake today.

Brekkie - glass of apple juice
Lunch - Pot noodle lol
Dinner - Cod fillet and new potatoes
2 Cans of Coke throughout the day
Bottle of water for my run
Apple when I got back from my run.

I do like the Morrision porriidge pots, but I dont like the Sainsburys versions.

So many things I need to learn, I thought cornflakes would be great!

no wonder you craved the sarnie - eating less food is alright for a bit, you'll poop out half a stone... but you can eat more volume than this if the choices are good.

Also judging by your food intake for today do not try and fast track your change by cutting calories too much. It just doesn't work like that. Everyone is different but I wouldn't recommend a calorie defecit of more than 500 per day on average. Even if you can maintain a larger deficit (which will get progressively harder as your body uses up its glycogen stores) if you keep at it your metabolism will begin to slow down and cause all sorts of other trouble. I've also been there.

Are strawberries and green grapes good or bad?

Also I be enjoy chilli pestachio nuts. Good or bad?

pretty much all fruit is good, but if you eat too much you'll get the runs.. just have some each day

nuts contain healthy fat, nuts coated in junk aren't so great... but moderation is very important with nuts... so maybe only buy a small pack at the shop - until you get the hang of portion control

See at lunch time if I'm at home (working) I either don't eat as I'm working, or if I do I grab a pot noodle or a bag of crisps and a cake as generally I'd rather carry on with my work. What is a good quick easy lunch meal? I know bread is bad, but I can only think of sandwiches which are quick.

Yes, normally I crack open the bag and eat the whole lot in 1 go, and thats a large bag too about a 700g bag with the shells on. I know I cannot continue with that trend.

What about salt? I cook all my veg/potatoes etc with salt normally as i find it adds to the taste. How bad is it?

I don't really know about salt other than in my own diet if anything I lack it so where I do consume it I'm not bothered about it.

Quick meals is where a lot of people fall down I think. I'm a creature of habit so I just created a routine of eating well. That included preparing my lunch and dinner every evening for the next day. It's effort to begin with but after a while it will just become the norm. So for an example my lunch would be tuna olives beetroot and any other veg. Then evening meal would be any portion of meat, usually chicken or fish with brown rice or sweet potatoe and broccoli. Eating out of Tupperware can be annoying but you get used to it.

The previous generation used to eat their main meals at lunch time - they'd go home from school to a cooked dinner.

Working from home is awesome coz u can make stuff. e.g. dump some chicken and veg on a baking tray, set timer, timer goes off - eat food, done. casserole.. lasagne.. chilli.. omlette..

You get the added advantage of not eating your main meal too late in the day, stop eating about 7pm or so... otherwise you just sleep and don't burn the food off.

Well I just got off my chair and my legs are aching already from tonights run. Didnt think such a short jog/walk would be so bad lol.

Just shows how unfit I am.

Tomorrow I'm off to visit an internet reseller (cannot say who due to breaking forum rules lol) anyway its a 3 hr drive each way along a motorway or two. I need some decent lunch, but what.....?

Take something with you, do not eat anything in motorway services. There is literally nothing of any benefit to be found there. Unless there is an M and S and you might be able to find some sort of reasonable meal in amongst the pastas smothered in mayonnaise.

A good rule is: if it wasn't alive or grew from the earth don't eat it! And that means no processed crap, so no potatoes now as chips etc.

Make a salad, take some cooked chicken, some veg.

My favourite nom salad at the moment is - chicken, avocados, beetroot and spinach. It's delicous, add some olive oil over the top for some good fats too. The beetroot brings out the flavour and it's packed with protein and good fats.

Do a bit of experimenting. Your just used of cooking crap, so you find it easier.

Preparing, cooking and cleaning from an omlette can be done in less than 15 minutes probably closer to 10.

I do really like beetroot so that is a good start, dont really have anything to make for lunch tomorrow now, so will have to wing it and see what I can do :) Will post back tomorrow.

Did someone not take time out of their evening to write a big long post about the sort of foods you should be considering and avoiding? I'm sure someone did.

Someone handsome. And wise.

billysielu, pls staph. pls.

Pre plan your meals you'll find it a lot easier sticking to a diet than grabbing what ever you can find when you're hungry. If you join the gym dedicate set days to the gym so you go as a routine, if you leave it down to a decision every day you probably won't go.

MW

That is the plan.

Tonight
Salmon and veg and new spuds tonight

Tomorrow
Brekkie - Mushroom omlette
Lunch will be a salad from M&S (work covers my lunch when on the road for work, but doesnt cover homemade pre-prepared food) as i need a receipt to claim it back
Dinner - Chicken and peppers with rice

Thursday
Brekkie - Mushroom Omlette
Lunch - Prawn and cucumber salad
Dinner - Salmon with rice and Mushrooms

Friday
Not sure yet, as I maybe out all day from 7am till about 7pm with work, but its TBC.

I may have a go at making a soup with the veg I have left before it goes "off". Never made a soup before though, so any help or advise would be good.

Fruit will be used if I feel snackish inbetween main meals.

I have frozen some of the chicken fillets for next week also.
