This is why people are losing respect for the police...

So I could just walk in to a mosque during the middle of prayers and call them all paedo idolising and deluded?
Can guarantee if I did that I'd swiftly get escorted out by the police too, and probably charged with disturbing the peace at the least.

Engage your brain for a change.

What has a mosque got to do with this? If you were stood outside a mosque or any place of worship with a placard that had writing that was legal in the UK and the police arrested you I would defend you. "Not My King" is perfectly legal speech, isn't offensive in any way. I'm amazed at the amount of posters who are defending the police arresting people for peacefully protesting. I'm sure in a few days when someone you like gets booted off a social media platform you'll will be screaming about free speech. Our ability to stand on a street and peacefully protest and not have the state arrest us or stop us is what true free speech is, not a private company or in Dis86's stupid example of going into a place a worship in the middle of a service and call them paedophiles and not expecting a reaction that will lead to a breach of the peace. If you were to walk into a squaddie pub in Aldershot, say they are all a bunch a (women's genitals) do you think you would get your head kicked in and then likely be charged with a breach of the peace?

The Met covering themselves in glory again.

Presumably the Met officers didn't like the idea of a group making it harder for them to go around kidnapping and raping women...

Another one who failed to engage brain...

Oh yikes, the police arrested some soap dodger types and they're a bit upset:

Sounds horrible, why would the police arrest them for this noble cause of handing out rape alarms...

Oh, wait...

Hmmmm

Also just happens to be part of a known protest group who have form for publicity stunts in central London.

I'm a little confused on this due to the timeline.

They arrested them so they didn't cause problems during the coronation taking place on the Saturday but, from what I can make out, they were arrested at 2am of the morning AFTER the coronation (Sunday morning)

Someone want to help me out here?

A thousand apologies for not placing a great deal of trust in the Met :p

Really? I am liable to get banned for personal insults if I say what's obviously apparent here....

But please do try to engage in at least some critical thinking....

An extinction rebelion activist just happened to find the need to be in possesion of 'rape alarms' to hand out to Londoners as part of the 'night safety team'... so that's mostly going to be the 'homeless' (who are overwhelmingly male) in the run up to a public event that the likes of XR would clearly love to disrupt in one of their stunts....

This is half the problem with thread like this.... namely that a lot of the public are plain ignorant and too quick to rashly criticise the very people they are reliant on to maintain order.

And it's not as thought it's something the police made up on the spot is it..

Is that the sort of order that has me smelling god awful strains of weed around every corner in every city in this country?

A very selective order I guess.

Yes but, as I posted a couple above yours, didn't these people get arrested AFTER the event (early Sunday morning)?

Or am I reading it wrong?

Nah the night safety team are more focussed on people going out on a saturday/friday night and having a bit too much to drink. They call themselves 'night stars', you see them around soho in pink high viz, I used to do some work with them. Perfectly reasonably that they'd have things like rape alarms to hand out.

True, though perhaps less reasonable that they'd also be under suspicion of handle stolen goods:

The three people arrested - a 37-year-old woman, a 59-year-old woman, and a 47-year-old man - were questioned at a south London police station.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, police said, with all three since being released on bail pending further enquiries.

Maybe unrelated... and maybe a total coincidence that at least one of them is an AR member too but also leaves open the possibility that these weren't just well-meaning, law-abiding volunteers.

Unless being abused or manipulated, taking loads for cash tells you everything you need to know about somebodies character.

I suspect it's also why he thinks he's so smart, people in the adult film industry aren't exactly professors, by having the intelligence of a wet crayon he might well be the brightest bulb in the room!

So you're quite happy for people now to be guilty until proven innocent ? Thought crimes are now acceptable ? Unless they have overwhelming evidence, the police should not be allowed to arrest people for pre crimes that may or may not happen

They've not been convicted of anything. Calm your beans.
So they were kidnapped when the police arrested them ? It wouldn't be the first time I guess, at least they weren't raped or murdered

You don't arrest somebody if you think they are innocent and haven't done anything, that's not how arrested under suspicion of... works

And they had suspicion. You're not arrested on ABSOLUTELY OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE, are you?
