This looks AWESOME

Because as mentioned above, it would give those people who can afford the extra for the adapter an advantage. If MS made it then games developers would actually have native support for it but I would assume the reason they don't is because it would give players a massive advantage.

One of the advantages of consoles is that everyone is on a level playing field. Native keyboard and mouse support would take that away, but this is just a bodge so nobody needs to worry.

Level playing field. MS know all about that!

Its strange how i feel on this product..

obviously its gonna be good for fps etc, and although i own consoles.. I kinda think it takes something away from the pc, and it makes me feel sad :(

I can't believe this.

Why don't MS do it?

They could make £50 instead of someone else. I thought MS was greedy?

Probably busy working on there own WII mote :)

Come on Sony, release a first party keyboard and mouse. PLEASE!!!

How do Sony fit into this?

Although I think it'd be great (for players) if Sony and MS did this, my previous post sums up why I also think it'd be a bad thing.

Well as I'm posting on a gaming forum, I was talking about people playing the games, not their business practices ;)

I love keyboard and mouse for FPS. But do feel that this would somewhat take away the level playing field that the 360 offers.

Exactly what I was thinking!
TBH I prefer the Mouse/Keyboard combo that the PC offers but I honestly wouldn't use it on my 360. It would ruin the whole console experience/challenge... if you get me?

Im sorry to the others who think this is a great idea, but i do hope it doesnt work very well, at least online. The reason i love my xbox the most is i know the guys sat at the other end have exactly the same kit as me. It will be disappointing if a divide in the FPS community comes about from using KB/M, especially when Halo 3 arrives. I can see it now "Controller ONLY Server", and any good players with the controller immediately get taunted "your not on controller are you.. kick him!!1"..

Why not ship a game with a bundled K+M and have native support. Add an extra £10 to the game price to cover the cost. Level playing field.

+ NATIVE SUPPORT

that a youtube link, i wouldn't 100% believe anything on that site.

Watching that video, don't know if it's my eyes but that's either fake or there's a lot of mouse lag. Doesn't look as if it's moving in time with his mouse movements.

Exactly what I was trying to say but you put it in better words. I completely agree - this is why MS haven't added native support - because it'd cause a massive divide in gamers. As I mentioned before, one of the major advantages of owning a console over a PC is that everyone has pretty much the same kit.

Like I said though, even with this adapter, games won't feel as right as they do on the PC. You won't be able to do any crazy 180 degree turn flicks or anything - because the games are programmed to take advantage of a joypad and doing so is impossible on a joypad.

But not everyone has there xbox360 setup on there PC desk or similar...

Like i really don't feel like dragging around tables and chairs to put in front of my TV everytime i want play online just so i can be on the same level as other players using a KB & mouse..

Got it in one! And you win because you are good at the game, not because you have a fancy mouse that has 100000 dpi and a keyboard that can iron your pants!

Well maybe not to that extent but you get my drift :p

It's bound to happen eventually.

Yes but the games are made to have a pan left and right with different sensitivity and it not being equal distribution of the movement over the whole stick on the 360.

Just about any of the recent console FPS games on the 360 have this, first 3/4 of the sticks movement are really really slow and precise and the last 1/4 of the stick has about 90% of the movement speed associated to it.

Not really that suitable for a mouse and keyboard and personally I think it is a terrible idea, online gaming becomes unbalanced due to the aiming assistance coupled with a more accurate system for targeting compared to others.

Thankfully this will not be popular, until native support is given for this system it will still be an inferior control method to the optimised control pad which the games are designed for.

If you want to play FPS games with a keyboard and mouse go play them on PC like I do, the whole fun of the console is everyone is on the same kit and it comes down to pure skill who wins, not who gets fps lag because they have 1gb less ram than you.

This looks like a load of rubbish to me watching that video, I would get so frustrated by it not reacting 'properly' as my sensitivity on my mouse is usually 2cm = full left to right of screen. That to me looks like a throwback to the Wolfenstein days.

gord said it perfectly there

For me, cheating is using a wall hack in CSS, not what controller device you use.

There must be a lot of customers out there who want to play FPSs with a K+M but don't want to spend £1000's on a PC.

I love PC gaming.
What I hate is cheaters using software hacks.
Constant upgrades.
Bloated OS with continuous updates.
Viruses.

I'm not wrong that a console FPS with native K+M support would be a popular product.

Be popular but it would introduce what you hate into consoles, the constant upgrades.

To be competitive online you also need to get yourself the KBM setup, and next year when the next adapter with better speed comes out everyone has to jump to that to stay competitive.

When you have everyone on a Wired or Wireless controller of the same specs, running the same system on one of two output styles on a TV where no advantage is given to either it makes online gaming great.

If the KBM takes off with the 360 I doubt I would continue using it online, wheels for racing games are fine as they add a slight advantage but with drawbacks, the KBM if it works and becomes popular would ruin the 360 online for FPS games in my eyes, you can not say otherwise.

Single player its fine, do what you want but online on a console should be equal and fair, when I played mates using my keyboard on PES3 and they used my control pad they had an advantage over me. I had the inferior controller and to stay competitive I have to buy two identical control pads.

It will ruin FPS games online if it becomes popular, it introduces DPI on mice to a console as a factor in how good you are!

Rubbish idea and will take most of the fun out of LIVE being a fair playing field.

I think this can only improve the consoles appeal to me personally tbh.

I feel the weakest area of the consoles atm is the control method for FPS games. Ok, you may say well pads work, which yes they do, but they are utterly poor at it, you can possibly get away with it for games such as COD3 and GR:AW as they are pretty slowish, however "fast-twitch" reaction shooters, like say Quake and UT it just doesn't cut the mustard.

What the hell is wrong with this? I mean Gord's comment (you surprise me on this, even go as far as calling you a dirty traitor :p) Take Pro Evo on the PC, people use PS2 pads, XBOX pads, keyboards, other 3rd party pads, no complaints can be heard, not everyone is the same, but it still works fine. So why not let FPS gamers on the consoles have a choice of controls.

The excuse of it not being a fair playing field is silly, some guys are always going to be better than others, and tbh it's like going into an F1 race with a mini when playing an FPS with a pad which is certainly no designed for fast and accurate aiming.

If i went to play on a console i would get frustrated with having to use a pad for FPS and just wouldn't play as it takes so much bloody effort.

I'm all for this, and if it works, then i will happily save and purchase a 360 in the new year. If it doesn't work i will be sticking with the pc for the forseeable future.

I'm sick to death of upgrading my pc so went out and bought a 360 3 weeks ago.I love the thing apart from playing FPS games as i suck with a controller and have been keeping my eye out for the release of the XFPS 360 keyboard & mouse adapter.I have pre-ordered one and should be here in the new year all been well & if it works as good as they say it's bye bye to my pc.
