This looks AWESOME

Stinks of double standards this nobody complains when someone in PG3 uses a wheel and has an advantage just because it is made by microsoft people turn a blind eye to that

I have heard microsoft are working on a new pad that is more fps shooter freindly if this aprears will people still shout not fair or will it be acceptable
because it is microsoft

There is already other wheels not done by MS, we don't slate them because wheels have no real advantages apart from increased realism, you have no idea do you :o

there may be other wheels not made by microsoft but my point is once microsoft bring a official controller ie a wheel then all of a sudden it is ok to use them no your a cheat accusations instead you get this (there is no advantage to using a wheel) aye right only if microsoft say it is ok

i can see why microsoft dont want to allow mouse and keyboard support as it would virtually be a pc then and that is not the market they are aiming at

but for me if there is a market for this then they are missing a oppurtunity to make money if someone else is doing it anyway

there vision is not going to happen so they might aswell cash in and do it right

It doesn't matter who makes the wheel, they don't offer an advantage in driving games - which is why this is completely different to the mouse issue.

A mouse and keyboard offer a HUGE advantage over a joypad in a fps.

Haven't bothered reading this thread properly but...

Surely using a keyboard and mouse would necessitate the use of a desk, a desk chair, quite possibly some sort of monitor... Whereby the 360 is transformed from a rather nifty console to an incredibly limited desktop computer (although we may see a version of Excel on Live at some point, I shan't hold my breath).

For me, this flies in the face of everything that consoles are about; namely, the more 'laid-back', fun and often social* side of gaming. PC gaming, on the other hand, is such a soliatary and lonely activity for the most part.

*real socialising, I means! Not over ye internets.

Why not just have separate servers, both points of view are perfectly valid in their own ways.

At the end of the day its down to personal preference and no one has the right to state which they think should be obligatory for another person based on a personal preference.

Ha ha, this thread has made me laugh so much its unreal. So people might be using a keyboard and mouse.... big deal. I've been using a £2.50 mouse on my pc and i still beat people with fancy super hi res mice. At the end of the day, if someones good with a mouse and keyboard their usually good with a controller too, same can be said for the opposite, some people just suck.

Its not like consoles are genuinly level playing fields anyway, theres all sorts of different 3rd party controllers available that all have different features and some with programmable combo buttons.

I think if your that bothered you shouldn't be playing computer games and should be looking and meditation or something as your WAY too easily annoyed.

I haven't read through the whole thread but if anything will kill gaming on the PC, it will be native KB/Mouse support on consoles. This should be as far as KB/Mouse support goes on consoles, hell, it's already gone too far with it.

BURN THE PERIPHERAL I SAY, KILL IT WITH FIRE!

Quoted this as its the post in this thread that made most sense to me (Ironically by the person with least posts overall!!)

Way to go - anyone bought one of these yet!

This is the beauty of it, anyone could have one and we wouldn't know. You would just get people who are crap at games throwing wild accusations at peopel who are better than them.

I have this DOA4 joystick, I used to use it at SF2 on Arcade, a couple of people refused to play me cos they thought I had an unfair advantage. The only advantage I had was more money and inclination than them to get a better controller for a specific type of game. I don't really see how this is any different.

Contrary to what people say in this thread Consoles are not really an even playing field. There have always been 3rd party controllers that give some sort of advantage. Be it Joysticks, Light guns, controllers with turbo fire etc. Whether the game was designed for them or not is highly irrelevant.

i play my xbox because i like the pad. I dont want to use a keyb/mouse on my 360, and i dont want to play against someone else who does.

im in games for fun, not 'competition'

So if someone else finds it really hard to use a joypad, or they're the wrong shape/design for their hands and they decide to buy a keyboard and mouse, you wont play against them?

Doesnt that mean you have an unfair advantage as the controller is something you can use comfortably where as they might actually be physically uncomfortable using one?

I think people need to chill out a hell of a lot with things, you all sound so geeky its unreal.

I won't play anyone with a keyboard and mouse because its not fair :(

What about racing games? Surely a nice analogue controller is easier to steer in say need for speed most wanted? And yet i've played games over the internet on the pc against people using 360's..... did i complain? did i ****!

Exactly, this will be the first of many different controllers so people might as well get used to it.

Whilst on the subject of unfair online play I think there should be servers for anyone using a 20"+ screen because I haven't got one, I don't want one and its not fair that they should use one ;)

That's a pretty poor analogy.

People can argue all they want about it being down to personal preference but the fact is if the best player in the world on a k/m played the best player in the world with a gamepad, the player using the keyboard would win most times.

Not every player who would use a k/m would be good enoguh to use the extra advantage in accuracy, but the potential advantage would still be there for all those using k/m over people just using normal gamepads.

Doesn't bother me either way tho tbh, I get pwned pretty easily by players using gamepads so there wouldn't be much difference if they did start using k/m. :o

The example of 3rd party controllers is awful - and not even slightly comparable to this situation. Programmable buttons ;) whoopdeedoo

Other than auto fire (something which gives an advantage in very few games - most of them old), name one advantage 3rd party controllers have offered that is any where near that of using a mouse over a pad.

I second his point. I also love keyboard and mouse combo, but I use it on my PC. I like knowing that everyone on GOW on the 360 has the controller, I still get beaten but that is due to people being better than me, not due to the fact they have a much easier control method (for an fps)
