You have to overprice them before you can slap a 50% sticker on them? How dodgy.

I cant put them on offer for less unless they have been a price already just as i cant put them up to a "was price" if there was never a was price.

Not dodgy, its law and how is a few quid off 50%, because math?

I think he means why the need for the "Was price" why not just put them up at the price you intend on selling them at.

480 gb is handy but its 3.5 inch so desktop/caddy only

180gb at £80 makes no sense on pound per GB basis vs newer faster 240/250gb drives just above £100, 180gb needs to be near £60.

OCZ series 2 products are legacy with the product pages withdrawn from the OCZ website.

I'd be all over some of those 480gb drives 3.5" or not that's a cheap fast drive

Edit: what are they like in raid?.

Voted before I saw Sandfarce.
I would be interested in cheap SATA-II SSDs based on almost any other controller.
If you made the drives in the OP £5 each I would consider them, for unimportant uses or people I don't like.

Tempted by the 480GB Drive. However, I've just returned the small (60GB) drive I got cheap (from you) due to failure (I got a full refund so no complaint against Overclockers) a little worried that this drive might fail especially after the comment above.

Are Sandfarce based drives that bad?

Any chance for some nice cheap small ssds? They are perfect for things like Openelec/xbmcbuntu. 32/40gb would be fine but they tend to be silly money. Those last 64gb ones for £29.99 that ocuk had a while back were fantastic. (Think they were ocz vertex 2)

I agree, it would be awesome if they were able to unearth a cache of older 32GB drives for a reasonable price. I picked up some 32GB Samsung SLC drives from the MM here and they've been very handy for laptops, temp drives and the like. I suppose the problem is that 32GB drives are either old, and therefore doubtful there would be any around, or newer but not very cost effective as most of the cost is in the controller, board, enclosure etc rather than the actual memory, so the saving over a faster 64GB drive isn't much. The glut of 60GB Vertex/Vertex Plus/Vertex 2 from a few months ago seems to have dried up, too, and I agree that £30 for a 60GB drive was a nice cheap upgrade.

Considering this was only just over 2.5 years ago:

According to the box some of the specs are different too:
- Max Read: up to 250MB/s
- Max Write: up to 240MB/s 210MB/s
- Sustained Write: up to 200MB/s 160MB/s
- Random Write 4KB (Aligned): 18,000 15,000 IOPS
- 146 (L) x 101.6 (W) x 25.40mm 11mm (H)

Not complaining though, minimal difference and it was an absolute steal for the price, hell it was only £35 more than a 500GB Velociraptor and will totally annihilate it on performance while making 0 noise :)
