Hmm, irritatingly enough I have one tie (my college tie) that I just cannot get into a half-windsor. Obviously I'm being retarded but it never seems long enough, despite properly using the subtle seam markings.

No, the Half Windsor is a variant of the Windsor and has virtually the same number of steps/passes. The difference is in suitability, effect and appearance not in effort.

As Scuzi says (I assume that Scuzi is, somehow, now Tracy?) the knot will be uncomfortable and will look ill-fitting. Ruining your overall presentation because of an insistence on using an incorrectly chosen tie knot seems a little on the stupid side.

All IMO, of course

Meh, Its a suit. As long as its clean and you look smart then I doubt theyll look twice. I imagine it will matter more what you say.

Of course but why do a half assed job of dressing yourself when you can do it properly? It may not make a difference to the outcome of the interview but you should at least make your best effort. Going out the door knowing that you look great is a big confidence boost. This can and does make all the difference in an interview.

Just make sure it fits. In my experience, most young men buy suits too big for them, and it makes them look like kids.

Aside from that, I should concentrate on considering answers to the likely questions!

Agreed. Shoes are often messed up, it seems many see them as an afterthought following spending good money on the jacket, shirt and tie.

He hasnt he, and then felt quite dapper and subsquently confident about the interview, however since the slating on his shoe choice hes probably gonna be more self concious of how he appears and that will be far more noticable to the interviewer than the tie knot or shoe style.

It's too late to change the shoes, I'm confident with everything I've bought as I've spent time into preparing in the best way I can. The shoes seem inappropriate, but it's kind of late for that . . besides everyone has different opinion a number of people said they look great.

I've put in a lot of effort, so I'm confident that I'm looking my best . . but hey I've done the difficult part. I just have to prove I'm the same guy they spoke to

He did ask for our opinions and I'm sure he's thick skinned enough to take them on board.

If someone asks for my opinion I'm not going to lie to them just to keep them happy. I can't stand people who don't speak their mind for fear of offending someone.

Not only have I given my opinion, I have given him advice on what I think would be better suited. He can take this on board if he wishes. I didn't just mindlessly slate him.
