Trapped at the bottom of a deep valley as a mud wave crashes OVER a 6 storey building. Only CCTV for a witness.

That footage is insane, those poor people with no way to escape, wall of water, mud and rocks just deleting buildings like they're paper, death toll must be a few thousand minimum although I would imagine most will forever be listed as missing

You can see why our ancestors witnessing something like that would come up with a great flood myth.

Some of the footage if filmed for a movie would probably be rejected for not being realistic... absolutely brutal.

Wasn't an earthquake as first though, instead the landslide was so big it registered as a 5.2 magnitude eathquake...

'There's been a lot of speculation about the cause of today's flash floods so far, with questions about whether an earthquake caused the landslide thought to be behind the floods.

It was initially said that a 4.4 magnitude earthquake had been recorded.

However, the US Geological Survey (USGS) has now clarified that no earthquake took place.

Instead, USGS said that a landslide took place and was so massive that it registered as a 5.2 magnitude earthquake.

In an update on its website, it said:

"This event was initially reported as a magnitude 4.4 earthquake. Additional analysis of long-period seismic waves indicates that the seismic energy was instead generated by a landslide."

I saw a vid of 2 guys running up hill, stopped to take it all in. Then get washed away.... Insane if they had just not stopped for 15 seconds to take a Snapchat or whatever..... Madness.

It's all it is these days. Can't believe how the first thing people do in these situations is pull their phone out.

Listening to 5 live the other day and one of the presenters played an audio clip of when they locked there young child in the car!! Shouting at it to try and get it to press a button on the dash.

The numbers are already bad, but feel like the figure will explode over the coming days.
I've never seen footage like that, outside of Hollywood. Absolutely huge landslide, the people anywhere close to it didn't stand a chance.
