Tibet flash flood

Been seeing so many videos from the flood in Nepal, and I have to try not to think about what I’m actually watching. What gets me most is that these people did nothing wrong, had no way to escape, and so many families may never know for sure what happened to their loved ones. It’s just messed up.
Many places around the world like that. Iceland and Hawaii spring to mind. I live in Lincolnshire too which is all reclaimed land and would get swallowed up in a instant.

Need to move to Nottingham and get up high!
Is it? I moved here last year didn't know that

Not so much in Tibet though
It is pretty grim news from the Tibetan side of the border.

According to officials in Shigatse, the rescue teams are not finding anyone alive.

They have been looking for days and on the fifth day of the emergency chances of finding any other survivors are becoming very small.

With 546 people missing - around half of those foreign nationals - that means the death toll will go up in Tibet.

However, engineers are close to establishing a road link to the worst-hit area after a powerful wave of water and mud destroyed infrastructure in the region.

Sadly, though you have to think that by the time that link is re-established it will be too late for the hundreds of people still missing.

There's also a third lake that has now formed that creates even more risk for the rescuers if any one of them or all of them burst their fragile banks and the river has already swelled due to rain

Can't be 100% sure its real but what I had previously feared might happen, I saw a video on X where the water has washed the banks away to a vertical cliff, which is now resulting in landslides to previously safe banks, so it's actually not over, its still happening.
