So sad to see. The world is falling apart.
For practical reasons people gravitate to water and it's (usually) much easier living at the bottom of a valley than up the side of a mountain. If this is going to become a recurring phenomenon and the government(s) can't stop it (what sort of resources are required to secure a glacial dam?) then those areas either become depopulated, or they rebuild and large scale loss of life happens again.
It does make you think about where you live or even go on holiday.
Many places around the world like that. Iceland and Hawaii spring to mind. I live in Lincolnshire too which is all reclaimed land and would get swallowed up in a instant.
Need to move to Nottingham and get up high!

Agreed - expect the numbers to jump massively. Literally nothing they could do, all those cctv videos of people running....but nowhere to hideThat’s definitely 1000s dead if not even bigger numbers. The scale of destruction is unbelievable.
East Anglia here and same - in fact many of the villages around here (I assume the older ones) are all situated on high ground. Ely's regional name is the Isle of Ely. If the worst come to the worst, I guess we'll all become islands again and I'll have an excuse to get a boat. (Or whatever works for swampland)

Seen a few videos now of people looting dead bodies, taking jewellery off etc, just awful.
And bad and good people exist always.
