In that case, you need a Mondeo
A little update on this. The ST170 has had a lot of problems of late which has ended up in me shelling out a grand to keep it on the road these last 2 months (discs and pads, steering rack went, power steerign pump, the list goes on and on..), not to mention my mechanic said it has started to develop the most common ST170 fault, the flywheel is on its way out and thats £1200 to fix
Anywho's, I thought enough was enough and went looking for a boring mondeo. My mechanic said id be lucky to get a £1500 for the focus as no one wants em any more and the flywheel issue will cost a lot to fix, plus he said they are a dog of a car anyway. Shame he didnt tell me this before I bought it but there you go.
Went to a few dealers over the weekend, managed to find a 2.0 TDCI Zetec (2004, 130bhp model with 6 speed gearbox) at the right price and in very good nick. Plus after a bit of haggling with the dealer I managed to get £2,400 for mine. Took it for a test drive and when it starts its a bit if a tractor but once its moving it supprisingly smooth. Its actually not to slow either, it certainly feels as quick as the focus and you dont have to wring its neck to get it to go anywhere.
Im off to hand in the focus and pick it up at 4pm today. Just hopign nothing else falls off my car in the meantime
I know I will prob get slated for buying the diesal and not the petrol but it serves its purpose as a cheap to run stop gap car. Its only going to be kept for no more then 2 years.
