Tinnitus who suffers from it

After nearly 15y of tinnitus, I finally went to the doctors and asked for a referall and am off to the hospital next week.

It has been getting worse and 'days off' have been getting rarer and rarer, so I decided it was time to get it look at again.
The first time I went to the doc about it, he prescribed some antibiotics which had a very nasty side-effect on my digestive system which put me right off going back!

Anyway, this time the doctor didn't think they could do anything about it but was happy to refer me.

I invested in a USB ear microscope to very carefully have a look in my ears. Good god it is not pleasant in there, has anyone ever booked in for an ear clean at the GPs? Is it true you must use ear drops first to soften the wax or can you just book an appointment for the waterjet thing?

You book it but have to use ear drops for several days before to loosen it up

Mine is still bad :( worse some days than others though.

No idea why it just started for no reason nearly 9 years ago.

Hearing is perfectly fine though, which is odd.

My balance certainly isn't what it was though, which leads me to think there is an inner ear problem.

Same , use a pink noise app for most of my time at home, at least it seems help and releif is on the way.

I have just trained myself to assign it as background noise and ignore most of the time. It is difficult though as it can be very loud sometimes :(

Same for me. The last couple weeks my ears have been really blocked up too. Been doing some reading and going to try a water pik to flush ears out. Some info on this page:

I always suffer with wax build up. For around £40 its worth a try. Picking mine up this week as its on order.

Looks like a con. My ENT doctor recommended not putting anything smaller than my elbow in my ear canal. I use prescribed ear drops once every few months which works really well.

Doing as little as possible to the ear so it returns to normal has worked brilliantly for me. I’ve suffered 20+ years and it’s now at its best.

Anyone with ear wax issues should find a local removal specialist. Much better than the doctor although you have to pay for it. My doctors started moaning about how often they have to flush ears and I kind of agreed it shouldn't have to be done there but shame that means paying for it via private companies!
I've used drops daily which worked but eventually had an infection. Recently been using an olive oil spray say once a week to see if it helps. Seems to make it take longer before it becomes a problem but eventually have to visit an ear specialist to have it removed.
Benefit of using a specialist is that they have other tools to use than just the irrigation device that doctor surgeries have which has it's own risks (ear perforations).
