Tinnitus who suffers from it

Think the sound of my loud PC all day does not help as the buzz i hear at night is like quieter version of the pc noise ( PC turned off at night ). perhaps my brains so used to hearing it it now reproduces it at night

Damn old as frick antec 900 rig !

Had mine for about 14 years here.

Right ear and is a constant rolling, high pitched whistle (say rolling as it sounds like it varies in freq)

Believe I got mine while travelling weekenders once and listening to minidisc player (yep, i owned one of those) on the train back to my old with very ill fitting earphones.

Tend to notice it more when I get tired or stressed with things (most of the time now)

Now have custom fitted sleeves for earphones, so they don't need to go loud to be heard and also have cutom fit earphones designed for use at gigs when I go to places where I know it will be loud.

Think mine is here until they turn me to ashes.....

I've been a sufferer for a fair number of years now. The result of standing next to a drum kit in band rehearsals and exposure to gigs and loud music far too often. Pretty certain I have some hearing loss too. One of my biggest regrets is not being more careful with my hearing, but I was young and foolish when the damage was done.

Normally I don't notice it, however due to my current headcold I have noticed it before sleeping the past few days.

yes - in my right ear

> 5 years

sounds like a mid-pitch smooth buzz - its certainly not a whistle

odd as it almost completely goes if I cover my right ear up ? very strange

not loud enough to be annoying - but if I'm finding it hard to sleep can be annoying if very quiet in the house

interestingly - not sure if linked, but my ears these days are very intolerant to loud noise, cinemas (action films) I find painfully loud, as I do any party etc

I often wear ear-plugs (musician pass-through ones) - even in cinema these days

Mine seems to get worse (right ear) when next to my PC (loud fans) and TV, don't notice it hardly atall or very very faint when listening through my headset though :( weird

When i put my pinkys into my ears and try to hear it i can hardly make it out and make out silence. (tinnitus comes from inside out ?)

Mine sounds like a CRT TV and it's a constant noise though I have started to be able to block it out, but like a lot of people have to have some kind of noise all the time otherwise I would probably go insane. To sleep at night I have to have the radio on, have it turned almost all the way down but its just enough to help me block out the tinnitus. Had it since I can remember and was caused by glue ear as a baby/young child and several ear drum ruptures

I get it for a few days if I have been sticking things in my ears to scratch them. When in bed a night I hear something akin to an engine running in the distance. Lasts a few days and then goes but flipping annoying and got me looking out of windows for years until I realised what it was.

I've had it since I was a teen for near on 20 years.
It came about from duck shooting without ear protection.
It bothers the crap out of me. I'd pay good money to be able to sit in silence, or enjoy the a walk in the country without a ringing in my ears. I've had plenty of tests and advice but most of it comes down to living with it rather than a cure.
It sounds to me like an old CRT TV. And it's there, day and night...

Protecting their hearing is the one thing I'm pretty heavy with my kids on.

I get it too, it randomly starts and disappears, almost like a sine sweep - it's only started happening during the last 6 months. Definitely damaged my ears after Valve night one many years ago, my ears were ringing the next day. Top night though!

I get it too, been playing drums since I was 10 years old, also listen to headphones a lot :( pretty much explains it..

Apparently stress and anxiety can really make it worse as you tune into it more, it certainly seems to be the case for me.. when i'm relaxed it pretty much goes away

I suddenly got low-pitched tinnitus in my right ear last year. It keeps me awake at night and I can hear it right now.
I've always kept sound levels relatively low and never had any head trauma.

Tinnitus normally presents in both ears as a high-pitched noise after prolonged exposure to loud sounds or one ear due to trauma. It's definitely not Menieres disease either so I think I have a C1/2/3 neck problem and/or high blood pressure that's caused it.
