Given NASA's achievements, I highly doubt they go around identifying glory hunting opportunities for randoms sinking aeroplanes.I bet they'd put out a different statement if this was some successful mission :s

considering its a small carbon fibre hull at that depth i doubt there is anything left of it , the people inside would have been dead before they even knew what happened , they would not of suffered and would have been over in a millisecondDoes it literally disintegrate or are you left with chunks of the hull?

One of the news people did say that the debris is on the surface but he meant the sea bed not the surface of the water .Why did I assume the debris field was floating
