** TITANX **

Hi all,

Just ordered the Gigabyte model after much deliberation. I game at 1440P so I'm hoping for a sizeable improvement over my trusty 780ti which seems to be beginning to struggle when all of the options are turned up in the very latest games. Hopefully 12GB means it will be future proofed a bit (well, as much as you can with a graphics card!)

Hoping it will arrive soon but in the meantime after clicking 'confirm order' I need to go and lie down for a while...

Sold one of my 980's with the other one provisionally sold to friends just waiting for it to come into stock now!

Someone please convince me not to stick my 290x and 295x2 on Ebay now and not get one of these. I'm so sore from the lack of support recently and so tempted to just do it. But it is a lot of money!

Do it, treat yourself :D. Think of it this way if it lasts you a few years it's about £20 a month for top notch gaming :p Not bad really, you could probably still sell it on even then and get something back for it.

Actually if you've got cards to sell it'll be much cheaper than that ! Stop thinking about it and do it !!!!

I wouldnt do it.

1. You've got loads of power for the moment. I thought you AMD boys where happy with your driver support?

2. It's a hell of a lot of cash.

3. Untill DX12 and Win 10 launches none of us knows that these cards fully support 100% of the specification. Meaning spening £900 on a gpu that your not 100% sure supports a future API not a very good move.

4. 390x cant be that far a way. It will make the Titan X a very poor value gpu.

5. A 980ti will also make the Titan X a poor value proposition.

On the flip side, your 290x's are old hat now. (Year older than the 900 series from Nvidia) if they have any vaue, it's now.

Crossfire support has not been good recently. Far Cry 4 took 4 months to get a profile. It wouldn't even then be so bad, but the the profile isn't that great. GPU usage all over the place and can't maintain 60fps even with MSAA off. I think single GPU driver support is ok. I've been with AMD since the 5970 and my card before that was the wonderful 8800GTX so at the moment Green looks slightly more enticing.

I certainly won't change to the 390x, but that's just personal preference really.

What's this about DX12 is that really true? Seems odd.

I reckon I could get a little bit of money back for my 290x, I only paid £250 for it so that's not shocking even if I only make £150 . I actually have another 7970 I can sell off for a bit too if needs be.

The one thing that's tempting me is I need a lot of power for my resolution, and so the single best GPU would be nice in that I'd get decent performance with no multigpu worries. As it is I'm basically using a single 290x in a lot of games, which is obviously not as good.

@Boomstick - that's not a voice of reason :p

I have a 295x2 a 290x and 7970 (repaired) to ship off so I reckon I could make a decent amount. Not a bomb, but not bad.

Go for it! If your going to sell the 290x's it's now. Your at 4k resolution I take it?

It's a lot of money. But you are selling off quite a few cards and your only get decent cash now for them.

I take it you have read a lot of reviews / benchmarks and know exactly what the cards are capable of, before taking the plunge. I would suspect even a Titan X at 4k isnt going to max out games.

I'm actually at 3440x1440. It's quite a hard resolution to find benchmarks for (especially new cards). So 60ish percent of 4K? Should be manageable. I don't expect 60FPS on every new game, I think that'd be silly. But I like to run at my native resolution on reasonably high graphics. I don't really go much for MSAA anymore, probably only 2x at max.

I wouldn't even be against adding another in a few months once prices are cheaper. I works a summer job additionally so I get a nice bit of expendable income.

More and more it seems like I'm talking myself into it, haha. If I was to do this, I'd probably sell of the 295x2, get the Titan and then the 290x. So never without a card :p

Sell em while their still worth something and move onto bigger and better things.

A single Titan X will give a much better experience than multiple 2XX cards imho. I've been there, performance was great when it worked but it was hotter than the sahara.

Titan X ftw ! :D:D

These videos will help you decide pmsl :D:p:cool:

If you're running 1440p then do it, the Titan-x will cream that res for a good while and without the **** of waiting for SLi/Crossfire profiles

If I was running 1440p/1600p still instead of 4k then I would!!! (but I opted for a pair of high-clocking 980s instead )

I'm in the same predicament Drojman.

I shouldn't of jumped the gun buying this BenQ freesync monitor, I'll probably have to sell it on at a slight loss as I'm past the 2 week return window.

After selling this 295x2 and the BenQ, a ROG Swift and a Titan X will be about £600 on top though.

This is making me consider them! You a Nvidia rep? :D

Haha I'm usually the anti Nvidia voice here !

They have the best atm though mate, look at the card the way it's made, the quality and the even advertising it's a different league compared to what AMD have right now.

Yeah it's expensive, but the money will go towards R&D for even better cards win / win lol :D

Here's those videos again in case you missed them pmsl :D:p

Haha. I do agree. They are beauuutiful!

I'd love to have the money to blow on one tbh. I have no preference on brand, i like value for money. And if i could afford two, at least they'd both work :P
