TitanZ: delayed indefinitely?

That's always been the story, Titan cards have always been more baby compute than monster gamer hence sacrificing gaming performance for compute performance, Nvidia were actually quite shocked the original card sold as well as it did (outsold the GTX690) and so many gamers bought them.

Well it was a good bit faster than most other cards at the time so its no surprise to me it sold well and id be surprised if it was a shock to NVidia. You don't call a card "GeForce" and not expect it to sell to gamers if its faster than the other options for gamers.

Another alleged review on the hardocp forum, pinch of salt as always. "5k gaming"

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1819348

From that, the OP makes this conclusion...

As a summary, I think we all agree these three conclusions:
- Gaming at 5K isn't really tangible. After all, framerates from highest graphics solution are terrible.
- (Despite above,) a pair of 290X offers best relative performance at super-high resolutions.
- (Despite above two,) the GTX TITAN Z is the only single graphics card that is "capable" of 5K gaming.

Which totally ignores the existence of the 295x2 which presumably would have a ~12% advantage (@ 5K) over the Titan-Z given that it is a couple of full speed Hawaii XT's on 1 card, so the equivalent performance to 2 290X's. Or 17% advantage with 4xAA applied.

There isn't a single person on this forum, regardless of how fanboy, who could justify the pricetag on this card. Wouldn't even matter if it was 20% faster than a 295x2 (which it isnt) as its price is just daft. Really confusing product if I'm honest and I own over a grands worth of Nvidia hardware in the PC i'm typing this on.

The only game I have tried @5120x3200 with res scaling is BF4, there is no way a single Titan Z could handle this unless you are happy with 35fps. Hawaii is also no good due to the VRAM causing big fps dips.

4 titan's can run the above and average 70fps on BF4 maxed @5120x3200.

There is nothing that could run Crysis 3 at that resolution maxed and there won't be for the next few generations of cards.

So I guess "5K" is 2x 2560x1350 screens? Normally I dislike people inventing K resolutions out of thin air but technically it is allowable as it has a higher pixel count than 4K.

Time to swap them 290x's for 4 x 290x 8gb's? Only kidding.

The next Gen is where it's at for 4k and above.

I have got to get me a 4K monitor first.:D

At 4K settings my 4gb 290Xs are very fast running BF4 maxed using DX11.

VRAM usage is about 3.2gb.

The next Gen is where it's at for 4k and above.

This I agree with but not because the GPUs are not capable, 4 Titans will run anything maxed out. I think the problem at the moment is the monitors, I want to use a 38" or 40" screen to play games like Civ5 or RTW2. 4K on a 28" monitor does not allow the GPUs to stretch their legs as you can not tell whether you are using MSAA or not.

5K is 5120×2160, it's actually a proper resolution, it's the 21:9 aspect equivalent of 4K (which is 3840×2160 16:9)

It's along the same lines as the current 21:9 aspect 2560x1080 monitors and the new 3440x1440 ones that are coming out now.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Z to be finally released next week

According to ComputerBase’s sources the new launch date for GeForce GTX TITAN Z is set for next week.

The most powerful gaming graphics card from NVIDIA might finally be released on May 28th. Multiple sources told CB that TITAN Z should be expected on Wednesday. This is quite odd, because Wednesday is not a common launch day for NVIDIA. In fact, I can’t remember when did the company release a new graphics card on this day before. Usually it is Tuesday or Thursday, so don’t be surprised if we see it’s actually May 27th or 29th.

Well it had to be released at some point, the cards were built and shipped to retailers so it's not as if they could delay the card forever.

I wonder just how many Z's they have manufactured? If it's as uncompetitive as the rumors say it is it may have an even shorter life span then the GTX690.

That brought back the memories of running about my gran's house in Italy as a nipper orangey, thanks for making my day.

I'll be shouting 'mazinger z fiori!!!' for the rest of the day now, it was an epic cartoon when I was a lad, only ever saw it in Italy.

May need a linky connected to this card for the purchase of a labotamy. Or maybe an enlargement to that section of the brain women have which makes them go shopping. I've looked in the accessories section to no avail.

Come to my senses, if it's an enlargment then I'm taking my £2400 to Harley Street!!!
