its a soddin' game... if people wanna grind and find it keeps them occupied... let them do it... i play WoW a lot and i still go out 3 times a week minimum... its not hard to have work/gaming/social life, if you find it hard then theres somthing wrong with u!

what i do find sad though is when people play on their birthday etc etc ^^ lol if any1 finds me doing that shoot me asap!

I've found recently WoW has completely changed my social patterns. Where as drinking and going out used to be the order of the day, now I'm even turning down the rare nights out I know I'll enjoy as I prefer playing this. I've got RL friends on skype every night when I play it, so who cares.

Some people like to be out drinking\socialising all the time, some will do nothing but play WoW and most people will find a middle ground. I've got no problem with any of those options.

I will admit though it does frustrate me a little how much of a bearing time played and equipment has on your success. If you have the best gear you virtually negate any lack of skill you may have.

That doesn’t mean its head and shoulders above any other MMO that means its simplified/dumbed down so as many people in the general public can play as possible.

Don’t millions watch East Enders and the like yet you don’t say East Enders is head and shoulders above the well written less watched shows. The same for the Sun loads read that yet you dont say the Sun is better written then other newspapers.

Theres a slight difference between the life of TV and the life of gaming

ages that watch east enders goes from 10-90.. and its pretty solid al lthe way through.. PC gamers tends to be 12-40... the majority being in the 14-21 age group...

dont think you can compare it with TV, but i do believe it is the best MMO available .. .currently - although improvements could be made!

Got a source for that? I seem to remember reading it was about the 30 year old mark for the average gamer's age.

im takling about WoW gamers, not gamers in general

and no i dont have a source, shall have a look... was mid jan when i read this, only reason why i remember was because there was some big argument over it, otherwise i probly wouldnt have done!

When you get to 60 and realise there is no such thing as casual game play with wow

Speak to me again :-)

Don't miss the endless hours spent raiding the same old dungeons for the same old drops.......

Once you hit 60 in wow... it changes a lot..

Those look like old numbers from the 1990’s but as gamers have got older they haven’t stop playing games. The average gamer is now around the 30’s and 40, gameing is no longer dominated by sub 20 yaer olds.

I know Eve online average gamer is 27 and its rare to see anyone under 20. Wow does attract younger people but its still got a high age average. I would be surprised if the average was under 20.

Still age doesn’t matter and I stand by my point. Just because lots of people like something does not mean that thing is better then the rest.

it does change an awful lot... and the majority of the idiots tend to be found at this level!

There always seems to be two distinct types of people in these threads, one group who play the game and are absolutley in love with it and wont hear a bad word about it and the second group which mainly consist of ex addicts who now hate the game after realising how much time they have wasted.

The only thing that gats my goat about WoW is the artificial way they try to keep players playing once they've done all the actual content. Yes, I'm talking about rep grinding.

The worst example of this is the Stormsabre trainers. Now you can spend days worth of gametime just grinding rep to get a special mount, that you still have to pay 900g for. What a complete waste of time. Instead of putting more things in the game that don't require 20-40 players they just invent more ways for you to literally waste your life grinding rep until you're exalted with everyone.

I don't mind spending my time exploring and discovering new areas and instances but the amount of people that just grind rep is just sad. I'll start playing again when TBC arrives and there's some actual content to play.

maybe yes, but it must be better than average to attract that many gamers.. and still growing

#51 this is true, i hate the way this happens... if im in an instance and am getting the rep.. i dont mind, but if i have to purposly do instances to get the rep needed for items etc.. then i cant be arsed

Argent Dawn is quite good for gettnig rep, as there are a few instances with quests etc in, aswell as you gaining the rep from kiling mobs and handing in scourgestone thingys

Yeah, don't mind Strat/Scholo quests for AD rep and similar but spamming AQ20 for CH rep or grinding runecloth to get another faction mount is a waste.

Ahh rose tinted glasses. Your 1st MMO always will be the best.

Possibly the most dumbed down, childish MMO, incredibly well mass marketed Peice of software to hit this genere.

Then i guess, like you say, thats why it appeals to so many people that need very little real skill to play.

Enjoy it while you do :O

Least its not Guild wars the CS :S of MMOs.

lol yes.. although over the past few weeks id been keeping a bunch of runecloth for my mage's tailoring... only to realised that id gotten 500 of the stuff :confused:

I don’t think you understood my point. The things that attract the most people are not usually better then average but in fact mostly worse then average due to being simplified and/or dumbed down for the mass’s.

I don’t mean to say it’s a poor game only that its more a stepping stone into the better games. Wow is not the type of game you play year in year out. Its got a high turn over rate of users.

the op is only level 40, he doesnt really know much about the game. Wait till u get to 60 and realise whatever path u take pve or pvp u have to devote a lot of time to the game which wont ever stop for you. Oh also the internal politics of guilds in the game and generally other people cause a lot of unforseen problems. Not playing their class properly, doing their job in a raid can cost all the other 19-39 people their lives and time.

There are better games out there.
