Toasties...

Just a really strong cheddar imo and I love to eat them with a packet of cheese and onion crisps (bad I know) and a glass of milk :D

The ultimate toastie (IMO) has to be hotdogs and baked beans. In fact I've got a tin in the cupboard..that's lunch sorted for tomorrow!

Have you ever read the back of a can of "beans and sausages" and noted the actual pork content?

"Mechanically reclaimed meat, 2%"

Mmm..... tasty.

Ones i used to have was just cheese or cheese + tomato.

I did always dip them in salad cream also which made them really nice I thought.

I've not had one in years as just seems to much effort to dig the machine out from where ever its burried like it always is, anyone made taosties on a george forman grill as I've got one of them handy :D

does it get messy?

As I really hate cleaning george when he gets dirty.

It shouldn't spill over if you position the cheese evenly. If it does, just leave it to cool and scrape off. The toasties are perfect, easily as good as any 'proper' sandwich toaster.

My favourite cheap + simple lunch at the moment is mushrooms on toast. Fry in olive oil (or butter if you're not on a diet) with garlic, pour onto buttered toast, add a little parmesan and enjoy. I don't see why this couldn't be a toastie if you really fancy it.
