** TODAY ONLY: GTX 1070 DELIVERED FOR £359.99 Inc. VAT !! **

Nice jump in performance all the same.

Can't wait until mine arrives now.

The only downside is that I am using a Freesync monitor.

Baring in mind that the average 780 would be getting like 55fps in that scene (the GHz edition is about 780ti performance out the box) that is a pretty big jump for the average user heh. I don't have that massive a CPU overclock at the moment either so would probably be a little faster again on something that was running like 4.6+GHz.

How is it compared to the 780 in the dx11 games you play? Many more fps and smoother?

If you dont mind me asking.

Unfortunately don't have a lot of easy comparisons there - BF4 I mostly played with "lowpro" settings where the 780 was giving ludicrous framerates and the 1070 is giving even more ludicrous framerates.

Everybody's gone to the rapture - where I was getting bang on 30fps before with max settings at 1440p I now get bang on 60fps (for comparison when I tried a 980ti in the system it was getting 38-39fps in the same place so I'm quite happy about that)

In GTA V there is a 70% increase in the ingame benchmark (I might be CPU limited a little from seeing the max possible gains on the 1070).

Along with G-Sync the 780 was usually pretty smooth in most games with the settings I ran which were usually ultra or fairly close so not a big difference in that regard.

Got mine today. I don't know much about benchmarks but I run this one on a couple of settings at 1080p. Does that look okay? I've got a small OC on the cpu at 4.4Ghz and 8gb of some old 1600mhz ram. It clocks to 1911, reached a max of 78 degrees after a few runs, and I can't hear the fans at all.

Paul N. Test it with the ocuk forum tests link here mate....

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18487976

and use the benchmark settings which are.
Mode = 1920*1080 8*AA Fullscreen

Preset = Custom

Quality = Ultra

Tessellation = Extreme

Ensure integrated graphics are turned OFF. Yours seem to be on

then you can compare your scores with others mate
Ps.if your temps seem high set up a custom fan profile to get them to kick in quicker

mine should hopefully be arriving tomorow. cancelled my sapphire 480 pre order to get this, it's replacing a 5770 which is just a makeshift in a new build i did last week so cannot wait to see some proper gaming beauty

don't count on that. if you see a price you like, just buy it. Waiting for prices to come down hasn't worked at all for us lately.

because most wont hold out.get caught up with hype marketing.

all you need to remember in anything is they need to sell it to us !

dont buy at stupid pricing they drop it. forget the marketing its that simple.they have loads of items they need to sell.if it aint selling they get stuck with it.they need to then lower to the price we buy it at.

so just wait a small while they will drop. everything esle in between the wait will be marketing on how the earth is doomed currency caused it anything so you buy at the great deal thats on.

when all you have to do is realise thats the sales pitch so you buy ;)

people are considering this is a good deal because of the previously high gouged price before it.so you think oh look its cheaper now.yes it is because it was gouged.wait let them drop it again.then next time they know you wont swallow it so easy.

why do prices drop ? because they have stock they need to shift. so use that.
then the prices drop and we all get cards at reasonable prices again. pound low brexit bs. people pay because people swallow the sales pitch its that simple. its a business so its understood. just make sure you understand it yourself.there are thousands of the cards sitting in boxes.

use common sense, wait .

Can anyone else that bought this card confirm that it has a passive idle? My fans continue to run at 32% at idle. Any reason for that?

Most of what you say is quite true, if we don't buy at these prices they will have to lower them to sell the cards.

But unfortunately just convincing a few on a forum like this will actually make no difference at all, unless you can find a way to convince the couple of hundred thousand that bought or are wanting to buy the 10 series everywhere, there will always be other who are willing to pay the price.

It is a sad and sorry state of affairs. :(

Give it 2-3 months the deals will start to appear. Doubt stock will fly off the shelves when they are so OTT priced now. £300 sounds about right for the 1070 & £500 tops for 1080.

Anything else is price gouging & or exchange rate excuses!

that sounds great in theory but real life is a bit different.

You buy if you get value for what you buy. Yes you can wait 6 months and get a reduction, that's not a great plan for me though. I prefer to have and use my card, that's worth a lot to me.

You however are welcome to wait and buy whenever or you can get second hand or not buy at all.

You expect everyone to stop buying so you can buy cheap at some point in the future? Good luck with that.

Spot on this :)

I will wait until prices are sensible. The more people that do this, the quicker the prices will come down.

Unless my current card packs up or a game I want to play needs more grunt, my 780 will do for me in the meantime.

Perhaps you don't have a price ceiling, but most of us do.

Enjoy paying £400 next year, £450 the year after, and the 1370 being £500 in 2019. It's not unrealistic.

You really are only hurting yourself, and then coming here to tell us we're silly for not playing this inflating game :p

you do realise that this forum has only a few people right? What any of us post here and our buying habits make no difference in the grand scheme of things.

if you smoke you hurt yourself a lot more compared with me buying any GPU. It's a matter of perspective and one very limited in this case.

also, any kind of economy class you take will tell you that while price does have an influence it's a limited one and definitely not the only one. They always tell you to never compete on price and there's a reason for that. You have to provide value to someone, that's when people buy.
