Today's mass shooting in the US

You do nt have to because you cant, we know. it's a real simple question, show me where the head wound is.
Are you now trying to assume my answer? I have not given an answer, you have given plenty and even said it yourself where the wound is, so why am I going to debate that, you have confirmed there is a head wound on the child thats a victim of a gunshot. Thanks.
A gun safety advocate threatening violence, well I never. I'm shocked.
Sarcasm as well as common sense not your forte yeah?
Colour me shocked.
If I really need to explain it for you, I was taking the mick out of your actions recently in this thread.

You have tagged me throughout this conversation number of times when I haven't been active to get your point across. Evidenced yesterday, now today as well, nothing to add to the conversation just a sentiment about myself.
Stop trying to act like I am not living in your head, rent free, laying in bed smoking a pipe.

Erm...once. once. Because it was highlighting the hypocrisy of you and your ilk.

At the moment we only have 2 statements, one from the kid and one from the old man. The kids statement is he politely rang the bell and waited then the old guy came out blasting. The old dudes statement is that someone was prowling around outside and trying to open the door to get in. The only evidence we have so far are the injuries suffered - on one hand you have the kid/family's statement that he was shot in the head and then shot in the arm as he lay on the ground, whereas the old fella claims he opened his door and fired 2 shots through the storm cover. The injuries that are apparent from pictures shown would back up the old fella's claim as Yarl had, what appeared to be, injuries from glass shards in his face.

The narrative was set by the prosecutor who claimed there was an element of racism because essentially white guy and black guy, you yourself said it

Where's the evidence to back the claim up from the prosecutor? Everything else at this point in time from the grandson and ex wife is conjecture and hearsay.

Point to where the headshot wound is, I'll even help you out as the mother claims he was shot in the head, above the left eye.

I don't see why you think the injuries incurred and the old man's testimony mitigate the crime in any way. Shooting at someone who isn't a threat to you is still attepted murder. The severity of the injuries does not change the fact he shot at him with a killing machine, which could easily have easily killed him. He's admitted shooting at the victim and making no other effort to take any other avenue of resulution, such as to call out, call the police, fire a warning shot, shoot out a warning. He did none of those but instead escalated to the most extreme level of violence

The old man's testimony still means there's no threat because he's admitting to shooting at a closed door. The boy wasn't in the property, even the old man is admitting this, which would be the only potential defense of the action. You can shoot at people who have broken and entered your property in America, you can't shoot at them outside your property.

The motivation for attempted murder doesn't really matter unless you want to add hate crime charges on top of attempted murder. But yes I am assuming that the shooting was racially prejudiced, much like I assume he was a gun nut who would likely listen to fellow gun nuts rant on about the second ammendment and their right to bare arms. Both of those reasons have caused him to make a huge misjudgement which will see him spend the rest of his days in prison. But none of that matters, a crime is a crime regardless of motivation.

I honestly think it's utterly bizzare that some people want to try and justify someone shooting a child for knocking at their door.

Fox News conducts a poll, gets results their viewers will hate.

An overwhelming majority of American voters favor a wide variety of gun control measures and over half worry that they could be victims of gun violence, according to a Fox News poll out this week.

Why it matters: The first months of 2023 have already been marred by a spate of high-profile mass shootings — including in Monterey Park, California, Louisville, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee — and many Americans say they believe such shootings can be stopped if any effort was made to do so.

Zoom in: 87% of voters surveyed said they support requiring criminal background checks for all gun buyers.

  • 77% support requiring a 30-day waiting period for all gun purchases.
  • Vast majorities also support raising the legal age to buy guns to 21 (81%) and requiring mental health checks for all gun purchasers (80%).
  • 80% of voters say police should be allowed take guns away from people considered a danger to themselves or others.
  • 61% of voters support banning assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons.
Just over half of voters surveyed (51%) said that they worry that they or their loved ones could be victims of gun violence.

They asked him to keep the noise down..

He was shooting his rifle at the time. I would have kept quiet about it.

Family members had walked to his fence and asked Oropeza to cease shooting rounds in his yard because an infant was trying to sleep.

Oropeza responded by saying that it was his property. Capers told reporters that video footage showed Oropeza walking up to the neighbors’ front door with the rifle.

I for one am of course totally shocked that it appears that the chap that went on CNN to make vague racist insinuations about his grandfather is your 'typical 2023 democrat type'....

....you know a BLM supporting/ Trans flag posting/ antifa retweeting, 'abolish prisons', ACAB type....

Are you posting the End Wokeness account and expecting people to take you seriously? That account is so far out there its as bad as the extreme at the other end of the spectrum. Reactionary nonsense.

Stop being so obtuse.

The twitter post was presenting a profile screenshot and a verbatim record or what was said in an interview without comment.

Snopes were providing their nonsensical and now throughly discredited 'opinion' about the state of news reporting for homicides.

What's False
However, no evidence has demonstrated a pattern of ignoring the crime on the part of mainstream news media outlets, much less doing so to further a predetermined racial narrative.

Some minimal, often only local coverage, isn't the same as days of coverage with far deeper background digging for anything that fits a narrative by the MSM.

It's demonstrably true that black on black, white on white and black on white homicides are not reported on in the same fashion as white on black homicides in the USA

But don't worry I get it.... facts are often triggering for your lot.

Greg Abbott has his work cut out governing a state like Texas with Biden in the White House with his lack of border controls.
How would all the right-wing farmers get their essentially free labour if he stopped them coming over?

Greg has zero interest in stopping it, like every other cynically hypocritical republican.

Here's the reality of Texas farmer's relationship with cross border immigration StriderX

Illegal immigration continues to impact agriculture and rural communities

The crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border threatens the personal safety and livelihood of those who live and work along the border, and the issue is far from solved, U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales said.
“Everywhere I go throughout my district, it’s the number one issue,” Gonzales told the Texas Farm Bureau Radio Network. “Even with the record gas prices, the fertilizer crisis and everything that’s happening in the world, the border continues to be the number one issue in my district.”
Homes and barns are vandalized. Equipment and vehicles are stolen. Clothes, backpacks, other items and trash are left behind in the “camps” as illegal immigrants move through agricultural land, leaving farmers and ranchers left to clean up the mess. And fear and anxiety are high for families concerned about their safety.
“You’re seeing record numbers of apprehensions, record numbers of drugs and illicit material coming over, record numbers of migrant tests,” Gonzales said. “It is all pure chaos along the border.”
Gonzales, who represents Texas 23rd Congressional District, has hosted numerous meetings at the border, inviting other congressional leaders to see and hear directly from farmers and ranchers about the impacts of the border crisis.
“These once small sleepy towns are now seeing high speed chases several times a week,” he said. “Water lines are getting cut, especially out in West Texas where water is the most precious commodity.”
A long-term solution to the illegal immigration crisis has yet to be reached that will effectively help farmers and ranchers in border towns and counties.
“Ultimately, this is a federal issue,” Gonzales said. “What I really need is the administration to finally realize how bad it is on the border. And I’m not exaggerating. It’s chaos. People’s lives are turned upside down.”
TFB has continued to advocate for a long-term solution by securing the border and stemming the flow of illegal immigration. However, TFB asked for a short-term solution help alleviate some of the needs of farmers and ranchers along the border. The administration recently announced the Border Restoration Initiative to provide some assistance, and TFB continues to work through implementation of the program.
Financial assistance is available to Texas farmers and ranchers along the U.S-Mexico border who are currently impacted by damage to fields and farming infrastructure, including fencing and water structures.
The funds are made available through the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). EQIP provides financial and technical assistance to farmers and ranchers to address natural resource concerns and deliver environmental benefits.
Eligible counties in Texas include: Brewster, Brooks, Cameron, Crockett, Culberson, Dimmit, Duval, Edwards, El Paso, Frio, Hidalgo, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kinney, Kleberg, La Salle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, Starr, Sutton, Terrell, Uvalde, Val Verde, Webb, Willacy, Zapata and Zavala.
Applications must be submitted by July 5 to be considered for this year’s funding.
For more information on this assistance program and other border crisis information, visit TFB’s Border Crisis Impacts page at texasfarmbureau.org/border-crisis-impacts.
