Too Old ? ?

Yes, solo, it's quite relaxing and allows me to learn about the bike with the pressures of keeping up or anything. To ease your mind a bit, this little 125 cost me £20 to do 500 miles.
Ah, the efficiency of a 125. I remember when I was learning it cost me almost nothing in fuel. My brother was about to sell his Vespa 125 but decided to keep it for local rides simply because it costs him almost nothing to run.

And that's the reason I'll never get rid of it, it's now getting close to 700 miles since new and has cost me about £38 in fuel. I'll get something bigger for days out but nothing will replace this for zipping around town.

In our local group we had loads of retired riders 65+, one of them was crazy fast and lets say it was never boring with him on a rideout! :D

Just don't push yourself, we had a pretty knarly crash caused by a new rider who lied and went out on a fast paced ride out (obeying the speed limits of course). Thankfully no one was hurt, only a few bruises, two wrote off bikes and hurt ego - we never seen that guy since.

Young lad on the same time as me stopped on a green, instructor rear ended him, the kid still "passed".
A guy dropped a bike on my ankle and later on he had a off, there was also a girl that was sketchy af... Both were asked to return another day.

Funny thing he sounded so confident and kept on saying how his dad biker prepped him for the CBT. :p

Blimey.

The lad I was with was almost a fail as was very sketchy doing the manoeuvres (that's how you spell it, really?) the instructor said to me "No way is he going on the road unless he picks up". He just about scraped through but these kids have no basic highway code understanding, for example, he did not understand "right of way" and was confused at traffic lights/junctions. Just a young kid who had rode his mates bike in a field probably thinking he "knew how to ride".
I cannot talk, my uturns were shocking :D

I do not see why the theory is not a perquisite for CBT seeing as you are riding alone with nobody to advise you.

I had my car license and drove on the road so had an idea on highway code, I was 18 when I did my CBT, we were only given a brief on few rules before going out. Crazy...
Funny thing is that the drop happened right at the beginning and was on start of summer. But, when I saw how he handled the bike, I got off and tilted the bike to the other side - the seat only skimmed my ankle. Otherwise I would be down or my foot would have been crushed.

That feeling when you are on the road for the first time :D
Oh aye, you instantly feel like a Hells Angel. When we were riding in circles around the training/carpark thingy, my mate had this weird thing with his thumb where every time he'd try to turn, he pressed the horn for a fraction of a second. Every time he did it I nearly fell off laughing, and when I looked over I could see his cheeks going up and down in his helmet.

Well you have all made me feel less nervous and now even more giddy (if that is possible) Cheers for the support :D

Enjoy it, it is fun.

I have found that having the confidence that comes with being not so young and having road awareness really helps than if I was learning as a 17 year old.

I definitely feel a little "OMG" when opening her up on a dual carriageway but get an amazing buzz at the same time, likewise when pulling away.

Have you got your own helmet yet? That was like a "keys to the kingdom" moment for me :D

When people ask whether proper boots are essential or if trainers are OK, then here is the answer.

I went from a 125 to a 1200 after passing my test. Admittedly it was a slow 1200 (Triumph Bonneville T120) but it had masses of torque. The first time I joined a motorway on the way home from collecting the bike I twisted the throttle as if I was on a 125 and nearly blew myself off the back of it. I only just managed to hold on. Lesson learned and quickly :) I uttered just a few swear words into my helmet and changed my pants when I got home.

Enjoy doing your CBT! I did it with a mate and it’s one of the most fun days out I’ve had :p

My wife did hers on Sunday.

Before: "I can not tell you how much I do not want to do this"

After (instructor): "we had to tell her a few times to slow down and we couldn't get her off the bike"

I think she's bitten. She won't admit it obvs but the writing's on the wall :D
