Top Gear returns on Sunday 27th June at 8pm

I just don't get it Fox. It's as if they're saying "We are smart and we think you're really stupid, so we're gonna pretend this is accidental and you won't know we meant it hahahahaha".

There is no pretense unless you're 5, that's what makes it so funny.

There was no pretending, its just comedy. Thats all. We know its staged. They know we know its staged. The smart ones don't care, we just laugh along with the jokes. Of course it was staged why else put a roll cage in it?

It's a comedy show, its staged, just like the stand-up you watched last week, just like the sit com you like and just like the last episode of Family Guy.

I suppose comedy is subjective. Actually crashing it is funny. Him sitting there pretending it was accidental with a straight face isn't. Each to their own though. It could be such a great show (like it used to be) if it wasn't so badly staged. Nothing wrong with something being staged, but there are ways to do it well. Just seems very lazy.

I would have thought that the names being there at the exact moment that the car turned over to upright it would have given you a clue.

For me the Reliant feature was the best part of the entire show, had me in stitches every time the car turned over.

Think you're misunderstanding what I was saying.

The wife and I laughed every time the Reliant went over.

It's still a great show, even if it isn't desperately serious and car-reviewy. If you want that, go buy the magazine, or Autocar or something. The show format is pretty much:

1) Serious review (Bentley)
2) Fairly serious features (volcano, death of the Chevy)
3) Star in a reasonably priced car
4) Mixed bag of news
5) Silly feature (Reliant)

This is the formula. It works. They wouldn't get anything like the viewing figures - or the worldwide sales, the show is sold and broadcast all over the place - if it was an hour with 6 reviews.

Still don't like the star in a car - but the reliant review was predictable but funny as a result. The Bentley was quite worth watching too awesome bit of kit. Volcano feature pretty cool!

I liked it. Like a lot of people I laughed every time he rolled the Reliant :D. A good episode, I will watch next week.

Were the reliants really THAT bad? God how on earth did they go on sale!

Reliant's were not that unstable, that one had obviously been fixed it a bit, but basically the car was the wrong way round. Like the old car in the studio they should have put the two wheels at the front.

It was a great episode.. especially as I was casually chatting when the robin went over the first time, caught me right off guard!

Couldn't believe James May up the volcano, some awesome shots there.
