Top Gear Season 22 & Xmas Special

Well done you!

I might check at some point, if i can be bothered...
In either the first episode or early in the second when they showed the clip of the convoy, it did look like the stars were in the cars, but just by assumption. In context with the rest it was obvious it was just the car being driven by one of the crew.

The presenters were essentially never at risk, the feeling among the crew was that they'd been thrown to the wolves, or at least one of them.

Xmas special was facile, infantile, imbecilic and provocative. The egos of the presenters only surpassed in size by the huge programme budget. They were genuinely bricking it, cowering in their hotel room.
Just a shame they weren't given a bloomin' good hiding by the locals.

I have to say I was fairly disappointed with this special, the worst yet. It just seemed really messy and random - moving between snow and normal weather within an instant, off road and tarmac...

meh =/

Still worth the 2 hours of my life though :)

So you think the presenters and camera crew should have had a "good hiding"?

I can't believe what I'm reading.

The camera crew escaped with seriously damaged vehicles and a few minor injuries. If the crew had not diverted from the main road, who knows what would have happened. The camera crew genuinely feared for their lives.

Congratulations on condoning violence against human beings.

First episode didn't really contain anything, second episode was much better, but still seemed to miss something the others have had.

And please say JM was trying to be funny and not having a mid life crisis.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was edited a different way to cut out some jokes after all the crazies kicked off.

Looking forward to the i8 review, pulled up next to one in traffic the other day and it really does stand out. Looked cool :)

make it appear that you are subscribing to the "let's find a numberplate and structure a TV show around it" view from those who believe everything they read in the Daily Mail.

In retrospect it's slightly ambiguous and could be taken either way, but given the context of the discussion going on around it you hopefully can see why it would be taken the other way.

The alternative theory is that the car was for sale on autotrader at the time. It was shown with the original UK registration plate of 982 FKL.

Somebody went browsing round autotrader, found this, and then the entire production crew based the entire episode around it. Deciding only to make it a "V8 trip to Argentina" once they had found the car.

For that to happen, clarkson and the entire production crew and the producer must all be lieing through their teeth to the media, BBC et al.

No way would they all be able to keep up that much of a lie, without somebody on the inside letting slip to the papers that they are lying. Something would have come out by now if it really was a script that was written totally around the finding of this car in the classifieds.

Except they didn't find out the plate until they were sent a copy of the V5C in order to raise a purchase order. IE they sourced the car before they knew the plate it had.

Remember reading the above in a news story a while ago, essentially they did know the plate prior to purchase but only because of their enquiries and being sent over the paperwork.

Edit: Infact curiosity has just got the better of me and I've dug out the advert they bought the car from along with original pictures, can't see the plate. Page as per sept (and was adjusted to a wanted) but still has the original photos it seems.
