Top Gear being told that's what would happen by Ferrari doesn't mean customers were actually threatened with it

It was not Top Gear I was referring too, I would take most thing Top Gear says with a pinch of salt, they are world class embellishers.

Even so, the topic wouldn't have come up if they were all happy having their cars tested at the track. It's a shame really considering that all 3 reviews by TG have been glowing and clearly each car is fantastic.

Great bit of press for Porsche though, who obviously aren't so precious.

I'm going to guess that you're a 307 driver?

It's hardly an inside joke that pugs for the last decade have been festering piles of yak semen.

Lol not quite a Peugeot driver although I did run an old 106 for a bit at one point! It just decended into a farce by the end tho, all that trouble to make a car Manufacturer look bad? I thought they were going to throw in a review of the new 308gti but guess I was wrong. TG has gone too much in the direction of a grumpy old man programme rather than cool car show.

Miss the days of Tiff Needell!

I am not defending Ferrari or McLaren, the noise about both has been around for months with these cars, Top Gear simply added to it.

Sending a special car with a full backup crew who tweak it within a inch of it's life on to run at a pre-approved location is standard operating procedure for Ferrari. Chris Harris had the temerity/balls/stupidity* to call them on it, and I think he's still on the not welcome list years later : http://jalopnik.com/5760248/how-ferrari-spins

McLaren are basically calling Ferrari on it by saying "Sure, pick a random customer car".

I remember reading a similar article about Ferrari boosting engines for the press and if they took any offense it could result in a lifetime ban.

I loved the Peugeot segment, i think the stereotypes went over a lot of peoples heads but they did a fantastic job of making a joke out of it.

I'll be honest, I don't think it went over peoples heads, just it continued for a bit too long with no purpose. Bit like the landy last week.

Without a review it just seemed like a 20min stretch out of the jokes they do in the news segment.
