Right decision, you can't go around punching somebody in the workplace no matter who you are.

Win win for us viewers, hopefully we'll get a refresh of TG with somebody like JK as a presenter and Clarkson, Hammond & May appear doing TG in all but name on another (hopefully terrestrial) channel!

Guy martin headline presenter

Chris evans and Jay kay the other two presenters

job done

Id happily watch top gear with guy martin :D

Chris evans and Jay kay?

Too many egos. The whole reason top gear works is James and Richard are easy going, and Jeremy is free to behave like a child.

Also, doesn't Jay Kay already have form for punching people in public?

It is the right decision from a purely HR point of view.

However, it isn't win win, I rather enjoy Clarkson's oaf-like behaviour. And the three of them work well together. So I hope they do move to another channel so I get to see them together again.

The "new" TG will try too hard to replicate the current multimillion viewer show and it'll probably be cringeworthy.

Actually think Top Gear was becoming pretty stale and could do with an update or facelift would have rather it happened through different means.

You cannot verbally and physically assault a superior at work, under any circumstances and expect to keep your job. Crazy that people are defending his actions.

It's the only decision, would you like it if you or say a close member of your family was assaulted at work by somebody, big shot or not? No, of course you wouldn't.

I work in an industry where you'd perhaps expect such behaviour to be tolerated, rightly, it isn't.

Fame does not and should not warrant special treatment.

Don't get me wrong, I like Clarkson and TG but he crossed a line it's sad but as simple as that.

Of course - from the facts we have been given it's hard to spin it any other way. It is right that nowadays you cannot get away with having a dust up with someone. When it's happened to me I never pressed charges because it was just a mistake, overly passionate disagreement. In this instance we just don't know enough about ins and outs of it.

I have not once agreed that JC should not be disciplined for it (whether it means firing or contract cancelling or whatever). It's a bit of a relief that the police haven't been involved and that the producer/BBC were 'courageous' enough to deal with it internally.

I still think this was a big balls up by the BBC and the production team. But anyway, that's my own opinion. :)

JC will continue to have his rants in his columns and books and he will continue to be non PC which is great, and I'm sure the 3 will be back to their fantastic similar show soon :)

I think it's the right decision. I'm a TG fan and like Clarkson, but his behaviour is inexcusable. You can't go around punching somebody in the workplace no matter who you are.

He punched someone in the work place? Was this in addition to the out of work incident?
