I enjoyed it but it was the weakest special so far. I imagine TG is filmed in the same way wildlife programs are, they go out get the shots then make a story out of it. I don't for 1 minuite believe what we get to see is really as it happens but iit is an entertainment programe and it does entertain :)

Anyone who believes the number plate was a coincidence is seriously gulable, they obviously edited out all the humour that would have been planned around it, regardless the hostility was over the top and the police could have been more helpful. Surely Argentinians like the rest of the world watch TG and know about its tongue in cheek humour!

Gonna find out how the 3 of them got out now!

Many died, many were young. A lot of parents will remember that as will brothers and sisters. It's not really something you go to their country and take the **** out of

Yes killed because Argetina started a conflict they were hoping wouldn't escalate. They should direct their ill feelings towards their government not 3 old pillocks pratting around for TV.

I think that is the point, this isn't mud slinging at a distance they were right at the doors of the people who may have lost sons, fathers and relatives (I left out women through lack of Argentinian conscript knowledge).

There were casualties on both sides and if a bunch of Argentinians arrived in the UK to do the same on the doorsteps of our fallen I think we would feel the same.

Do you feel the same way about our bravest young men and women who were dragged into a second war against Iraq that has achieved nothing?

If a foreign crew came over and started mocking our fallen should we tell them to sod off or chase down Tony Blair and blame Labour?

Even if they did do it on purpose (which I don't think they did), the response they received was way out of proportion.

We have immigrants come here and burn poppy reefs on armistice day, the normal people are outraged and complain but they don't start riots, that's left to the likes of the EDL and BNP lot that will riot and end up being violent. That's exactly the people we saw in this special being violent, the nationalists and right wingers of Argentina being incredibly violent.

Quite damning for Argentina rather than Top Gear.

Also if it really were intentional there would be footage of clarkson makes jokes about it prior to the events. They couldn't even keep him singing eenie meenie minie mo under wraps, no way they would be able to conceal that footage.

Some great scenes and a pretty good show. I do think the mob was real regardless of creative editing. You could hear the fear in the woman's voice when she said there was no other route to the boarder. But like someone else said, were the tables turned in the UK and a whole council estate or area of inner city were out in a huge mob it would have been as bad, if not worse.

these specials would be much more interesting if they purchased vehicles suitable to the task and then had maybe the first 10 mins showing how they prepared them (properly etc), then onto the challenge of driving through that terrain etc. the fun and japes would still happen, but it would be much more realistic and believable. the artic special was a case in point with the special toyota pickup etc.

are people saying that top gear who have been accused twice before for racial slur did not intentionally put a licence plate on a car that reads H982 FKL and drive it through Argentina?

Only problem is that wouldn't be as extreme. Having a landy, Range Rover and RAV4 doing what they are made for really isn't a testament to the the vehicle and what it can actually do when pushed waaaay past its intended limits.

So you would go and throw rocks at them?

Who says the Iraq intervention acheived nothing? You reek of someone who knows nothing of the history and conflict, just spouting the same Russell Brand style rhetoric, WAR IS BAD THEREFORE WE ARE BAD.

Ill have to repeat myself because some people are not getting it, even if they had done it intentionally (I don't care either way) the response is the kind of thing you would expect from upset religious fundamentalists.

maybe the 2015 Christmas special can be shot on the Falkland isles and they can erect a couple of hundred foot high sign reading something offensive to Argentina :)

So what if they did? There wouldn't really be anything wrong about doing that. Germany have been mocked many times by Top Gear over WW2 and by plenty of other famous people, the Germans didn't come out in their hundreds and throw stones at them though... The controversial thing here is the way the Argentinians reacted. Over a number plate.
