Hence his love for Porsc... oh no, wait.

Is it not just the lazy design history of the 911 Clarkson hates, not Porsches in general. But hey, that little detail doesn't fit neatly into your pathetic little conspiracy theory about this incident does it?

As for the show itself, anything that shows the murdering argie *******s in a bad light is alright by me.

Why would the media cover the tracks of a few television presenters? or any ones tracks for that matter? If there is a story they will exploit it, much like they have in this case already.

To spare the blushes of the national broadcaster, to cover their own bottoms, take you pick.

It doesn't really matter if the plate was originally on the car or not. The producers knew that it would be inflammatory having such a plate on the car and going to Argentina but they didn't think it would provoke the reaction it did and took the risk anyway for some laughs. They could have changed the plate if they wished, but didn't.

Some giggles throughout both episodes but found them both rather boring overall. When they camped out the second time (I think?), the views of the sky were awe inspiring.

Listening to the burble of the V8's and Jeremy and James explaining why a inline 6 is smooth and a V8 isn't was interesting to me.

The petrol station gag was funny the first time but not afterwards :p but the Beaver scene was pretty funny. Episodes just seemed to drag on, perhaps because I watched them in succession.

I don't remember the Germans rioting after that episode.

1) That wasn't even in Germany.
2) For some reason there's a fairly long-lasting banter back and forth with the Germans, which is probably down to the longer time-frame, the fact most Germans didn't and don't support the war and frankly football as much as anything. Our (as a country) relationship with Argentina is a lot less jovial.

I'm inclined to think that the plate wasn't deliberate, but I do think it was noticed pretty early on and TG decided to just carry on and poke a bit of fun.

Doesn't really excuse the actions of the Argentinian BNP mind. How many times do they have to be told that the Falklands don't want to be part of their country? The ignorance is astounding.

You are arguing that is unlikely that the car was on sale when around the time they needed a car for the filming of the episode, yet if the "coincidence" version of events is true the car actually was on sale around the time the episode was being filmed.

The car clearly was for sale; it was bought from a classic car dealer who said he thought it was being used for a BBC drama of some sort. Clarkey's argument was that someone on the TG production team already knew about the car due to its potentially-offensive numberplate ("A Prosche with a Falkands reference on the plate, must commit that to memory in case I ever work for Top Gear") which means they were looking for that specific car, and that by pure luck it was for sale at the same time they needed a V8 for a Falklands special episode.

He didn't say he used that exact porshe 928.

Nor did I.

Anyway, all this rather detracts from the fact that it was a fairly boring TG special really, even with the excitement at the end.

I keep seeing people referring to the other set of plates in the car, they aren't legal plates & can't be used on the road so they are irrelevant, to me it just supports the fact they were going to be used in the last car football part which is obviously going to be off road. Why would they have the plates for that section of the show if they never intended to get there?

Co-Incidences happen, I bought a Ford Capri in 2005 when I worked for the Department for Work and Pensions, it took over 6 months for anyone to spot the connection (A122DWP) despite the fact it was probably the oldest, loudest & most unusual car in the car park.

The classic car dealer they bought the car from has also said he was contacted by the BBC specifically looking for a Manual 928 which are rare (currently only two on Autotrader, both of which are expensive) and it was purchased a month before filming started, if they planned the show around the car then they are incredibly well organised.

just watch both episodes back to back and i was enjoying them tbh. i found it funny how the lotus worked all the time and the other two broke and the roads and cars were decent. i'm a bit annoyed that it ended early by some butt hurt people.

I just find it quite interesting that they have disputes with chillie also ( don't know the history mind ) but speaks volumes. I don't think he would be able to bs the story about his dad and not have some reporter find something suggesting it wasn't true , that's another **** storm there in that case .
