Top Gun: Maverick

Never even seen the first movie, seen clips of the final battle which seemed to have a bald guy on a ship saying "sonovabitch" every 2 seconds or so. :o
lollll

pretty much and in the beginning

came on the other day, bought a nostalgic smile to me with cheesy tom cruise grin

Great fun film, well paced with good humour and action.

Most enjoyable film this year for me so far.

Trailer for the new mission impossible played and that looks epic.

Got free ticket to see it tonight from Sky, good film albeit not as good as Top Gun (but that's kind of a given, almost nothing is as good as Top Gun). I'd say it's an 8.5/10 compared to the original at 9.5.
Quite a few scenes were just homages to the original, a bit unsubtle/cheesy but it works, at the end of the day you want to hear Danger Zone with the sound of jet engines blasting in your ears and planes fizzing about on the big screen, you want to hear those one-liners you know so well from the original getting a second outing in a new environment etc. And because they waited 36 years between films, it feels absolutely fine that some material is sort of recycled.

Cinema screen was completely full (as in zero empty seats, they were making people shuffle along) 10mins before start time which is pretty rare these days, I can see this being a big hit, people in their 40s will be all over the nostalgia.

To be honest, I'm struggling to think of the last time I saw a new film as good as this, a few years at least.

Enjoyed it a lot, overtime my enthusiasm of it might level off but I really enjoyed it today at the cinema.

p.s. funny that during the end of the 3rd act's sequence my Apple Watch gave me a "high heart rate alert", saying that my heart rate is up yet i am not moving around lol Clearly it was exciting! Can't even hide it from my watch!

The only thing missing was Berlin...Take my breath awayyyyyyyyyy.

Just got back. Pretty much everything i could have wanted from a top gun film.

Seeing on as bigger screen as possible is a must.

Take your cliche checklist and make sure you have plenty of ink....wouldn't of wanted it any other way!

Goodness gratuitous, great balls of fire!

I want to watch this on Imax yet the cinema closest to me only has showings up to the 2nd June and I'd need it to be the week after. I've never booked or been to an Imax showing, do they normally add more dates? I'd have thought it would be popular enough to warrant it. I've spoken with the cinema and they have said they are not in charge of screen times & dates so I should just book for the dates available just in case.

Usually my nearest IMAX is only booking up to the 5th I'm sure it will continue to be shown beyond that date though.

Just back from Imax showing with my 2 boys and we all thought it was brilliant, yes its cheesy in places and there are plot holes all over the place but it looks fantastic, the flying sequences are stunning, its sad at times but also genuine laughs from everyone in a packed cinema. I'm off to see it again over the weekend.

It's fantastic, a standout movie I saw in IMAX is Gravity, I just wish I could experience that movie again in IMAX 3d
Great to hear, although not so much if I don't get a ticket  I'm holding out a little hope as the week after the 2nd is greyed out and Jurassic World Dominion starts showing in Imax on the 10th so we will see. I'm just glad to hear reviews are coming up positive for this movie :)

Goosebumps at the start when
Highway to the danger zone
kicked in.

Lump in my throat towards the end when
Maverick said "Thank you for saving my life" and Rooster said "It's what my dad would have done"

Brilliant. Wish I could have experienced that in IMAX
