Top Gun: Maverick

Poppycock.

The Apple TV picture quality on the streaming version is superb. Definitely one of the best I’ve seen for streaming picture quality.
4k Disk can hit 144mb/sec. 50gb disk is around 72mb's per second

Disney are horrible at 4k Disk bruh quality on par with semi decent 1080 Disk with collector's often stick to the normal Bluray copy for cost.

Not all transfers are the same.

And example T2 4k Disk is hot mess and one of the worst 4k transfers.

Watched this last night, it was ok, I was expecting the best film ever after all the 10/10 reviews. The main mission objective was basically the star wars trench run. All the pilots were a bit annoying with their forced rivalry. And the countless plot holes. The flying bits looked cool. 6/10 from me.

I watched it the other night because I'm an aviation nut, but I don't understand why they had to risk a load of aircrew on a dumb mission that could've easily been done with cruise missiles, drones and/or spooky stealth shenanigans.

I quite like that TBH.

Didn't go into too much detail nor spend and hour explaining who the bad guys are and their background.

Here's the mission get it done.

I don't think watching someone pilot a drone or fire a couple of missiles off a ship would make a very good action film.

Great film. I got very emotional when Val k was on screen, knowing what happened to him but it was done really well. Likeable characters, even managed to like Hangman. At first he wound me up with that grin and tooth pick, but then I realised
I knew he would come save the day at some point and be best buddies
. Great action, sound.

First 5 minutes great like old TOPGUN.

I watched it yesterday and loved every minute. It brought back fond memories of the old film which I watched more than I should as young man. It had the right balance of new stuff to stuff you remember from the first film. I was thrilled throughout, one of the best films I have seen in many years.

Watched this and really enjoyed it. Did anyone else notice that right at the beginning, Tom Cruise sits down like Will Riker?

Yes! Was grinning to myself at the use of the Riker Maneuver :D

Watched this last night with a buddy, it was his second time watching it. I loved it, he loved it just as much as the first viewing. A pitch-perfect example of how you do a proper sequel to an Eighties classic.

***edit***

Other stuff.

Val Kilmer did more (and better) acting without a voice in that scene with Cruise than most allegedly A-list actors do in entire films. I know the guy fell out with virtually every director he worked with but damn can he act.

I loved ~9/10ths of the soundtrack.

Reckon I'll watch it again later in the week.

I think that is basically why manned aircraft is a dying breed. They had to make up some weird stuff to make planes the only option. They even had to twist the plot so the F35 was useless to go all in with F18.

Never the less it doesn't matter how crazy Tom Cruise. He knows how to make an absolutely stonker of a film. Loved it.

Good film, equal to the 1st, but Mach 10?, really?, lol

Well the fastest non-classified manned flight was mach 6.7 (X15 in 1959) and the fastest UAV on record is mach 9.6 (X43A), so for a top secret project to be aiming for mach 10 is not that much of a leap. There are other designs like Shefex aiming for Mach 11. But you're not going to eject from that and then ask for a glass of water.

Finally seen it the other night, was not a massive fan of the original and I knew what to expect with this one though after al the hypes and leaks. Also and as a serious flight sim guy and scale model builder knew that this was not a documentry or an ultra uber realism flick, but once you take the serious head off and use the rollercoaster popcorn fun head, its a really enjoyable if somewhat cheesy (at times) film ... It was fun, I give it 7.5/10 will buy on 4K Blu Ray for another watch (and my collection) and see the extra's the disc has. The Flight action scenes were amazing on the big screen along with the sound and had me grinning from ear to ear.
