Torchlight Action RPG by ex Blizzard North

I just bought this :)

Should keep me going until Diablo3 is out, seems pretty cool so far :D

edit: not sure if it's just me but this game seems overly easy so far ?! does it get harder?? (currently lvl8)

Bought this game yesterday, absolutly love it so far :D

Think i'm level 15 or 16 atm, playing a vanquisher dual wielding pistols.

Yeah, this is the only problem i have with it so far, i chose normal difficulty and while i was expecting it to be fairly easy on that difficulty i was expecting somekind of challenge when fighting bosses etc, but i havnt even been close to dying so far. I can see this being one of the few games i play through more than once tho, so i'll probably carry on and complete it on normal then play through again on a harder difficulty with an alchemist.

Apart from that tho it's excellent, cant believe it was only 15 quid, i would have paid full price. I've played a lot of WoW and Warcraft 3 so i love the graphics, the whole setting is great too, quite varied monsters and levels.

Got a few questions about it tho:

1. What's the point in fish, does it only change what your pet looks like, or do they get different stats depending on what they change to?

2. As i said im playing a Vanq atm, gone down the marksman tree atm, getting the +ranged damage talent(10/10) the crit talent(10/10) and working on Explosive Shot and Dual Wield talent (this increases ranged damage too yeah?). Is this a good way to go? It's fairly easy atm anyways, but if it gets more difficult i'd prefer not to have a completely gimped spec :D

3. Which stats are important? I've been mainly doing dexterity, and the other ones when they're required for upgrades, does this sound right?

Am going for a Zookeeper build, so far I have 6 imps, 2 golems, 5 skeleton and 3 zombies. My pet can summon skeleton archers and am hoping to find another skeleton scroll to see how many my pet can summon, and in general keeping an eye out for different summoning scrolls.

Im loving this game, only 2 points I don't like are that the mouse pointer is to small and you can't use keybindings.

Loving the game, better than I thought it would be.
Hating pets though, I usually ignore them/use them as a mule.

I gave the pet a HP steal which works well too.

What is nice is that you have many ways to develop your character just as Diablo II.

My only concern is the lack of feel for the storyline. Other than that it is dialblo in a modern 'cartoony' feel that should sell well in Asia.

1. They gain the abilities of that creature in combat. Also there are more rare fish that do all sorts of cool things :)

2. My Vanq is similar to that, I ended up using ricochet a lot more than Explosive shot though.

3. For a Vanq, dexterity and defence with enough strength for equipment.

Anyone finished the game yet? can you go back through with your leveled character when you are done ala Diablo?

An infinite dungeon with infinite quests gets unlocked when you finish the game to allow you to get to 100 & get better items. It's in the FAQ, not a spoiler :p

Although a lot of people have been complaining that the items don't seem to get much better after level 30-ish

Every level when applying strength/dex/magic/defense it gives you a fair boost depending on the amount of points you put in there, so every level you're getting stronger regardless of your items.

Also, the more money you get the more you can enchant, so once you think you have the best item possible for your class then enchant it whenever you have available gold.

Yes, it would be nice to have nice rare items that required level 60/70/80/90/100 however it doesn't matter too much as there are many other things that will make your character more powerful.

Dont know if its been mentioned yet...But upon browsing another forum I have discovered that this game has a Horse Level..

anyone got a purple or yellow item from the gambler yet ? :)

only got a blue so far :(

The item value seems to indicate how likely it will be a unique/rare. I got a unique the first time i gambled.

In all honesty it's pointless though, just get a basic weapon and enchant the crap out of it, will be leagues better than a unique.

thats the most fundamental flaw with this game, a limit needs to be set imo, something like;

white: 10
green: 7
blue: 5
purple:4
unique: 3

having said that though, ive not completed the game yet, got a 25 vanq, 26 Dest + 11 Alch. items should scale up to lvl 100 though, not just to 50 like is said on the Runic forums, that way what i have done above scales well too.

the whole infinate thing bugs me, i mean, why have a limit of 2,1xx,xxx,xxx or whatever it is? stupid big numbers for a game thats meant to be fun, which it very much is atm. :)

Not sure how others are doing with their items but this is pretty impressive

:D

bought rifles from the gambler until I found one with "fastest" attack speed and a nice-looking model, then i enchanted the crap out of it (giving it two sockets and plus ~600 damage) and then i put two max-level ice-ember thingamajigs in the sockets :D

it criticals about 4 out of 5 shots :)

<edit> oh, obviously it currently one-shots everything i throw it at :D
