Total biscuit has cancer :( (RIP)

yikes

While it's probably flat out harsh to say "his fault" then, ignoring that for a year is a really, really silly thing to do.

You don't know what he was experiencing though. Blood can be attributed to many things, such as haemorrhoids, tears in skin near your bunghole (fissures from straining). I believe the darker and blacker the blood (like lumpy clots) the more obvious a serious issue is.

Anyone can get intestinal polyps, which are basically like a wart on a stalk dangling from the internal surface of your large intestine. Usually from a few things such as:
- Hereditary
- Alcohol and Nicotene
- Too much red meat
- Not enough fibre
- Other conditions (Crohns)

These polyps are pre-cancerous, which means they are similar to a Stomach Ulcer or Moles and Rodent Ulcer on your face - they have the extremely high potential to turn nasty.

wow didn't know this, just finished watching his Watch Dogs video. One of my favourite youtubers. Hope the dude recovers fully

Still, Its a strangely Male / UK thing with not wanting to go to the doctors about these issues. The fact that he had been bleeding for about a year without seeing the doctor beggars belief.

I was lucky enough to have a polyp removed while investigating other issues which could have turned nasty in the future if it had gone un-noticed and many people don't get any advanced warning like he.

I hope it all works out for him and the treatment isnt too harsh

Not just UK, Americans are just the same. In some cases worse if they don't have insurance.

I'd be surprised if he didn't have good medical cover considering how much most youtubers that are popular can make.

I bet he at the very least pulls in a 6 figure salary in £

I was pretty crap (fnar) in my youth with regards to fibre, often eating half a loaf of white bread as buttered toast in a single sitting.

As such, I used to suffer terribad constipation. After a particularily bad episode following a bout of spastic colon (best name for a condition ever!), I had some blood.

Straight to Dr Procto who had a good look around and told me it was a tear from staining and would heal. He also told me that as it will form scar tissue, I'm likely to suffer from small tears for the rest of my life. His advise was to cut down refined starchy cards, increase fibre, and get a good probing every 2 years. He said that bright red blood is the least concern as it just indicate a fresh tear. Dark/clotted blood is a concern and I should seek medical advice straight away if that happened.

And that is what I have been doing for16 years of my life now. Not hereditary link to bowel cancer thankfully, but still get checked every few years, and will probably increase that frequency when I get to my mid 30s. Alpha men who avoid doctor checkups are more Alpha morons.

UPDATE : He's dying :(

“When I went into hospital a week or so ago, it was accompanied by the news that conventional chemotherapy’s effectiveness had been exhausted,” Bain wrote in a lengthy Reddit post on r/Cynicalbritofficial, the subreddit devoted to him and his fans. He added that doctors told him his liver was failing, and that he is “currently coming to terms with the fact that I don’t have long left.”

Grim news for anyone to have to hear. Can't image what it's like, poor guy.

Yeah, saw this news yesterday. I'd noticed his health seemed to have been deteriorating over the last few months, so wasn't especially surprised with the announcement, but it's still sad.

Worth noting that he also announced his retirement from gaming critique - the Co-optional Podcast will still run, so long as he is well enough, and he plans to stream gaming with his wife.

He's been a very important voice in PC gaming over the years. A big loss.

Still find it hard to fully sympathise with the bloke after he wished this disease on other people, wasn't a one-off either and it wasn't like he was a 16yr old kid when he did it, well into his 20's.

Not watched his videos for a few years as I started back when he did the WoW show but he has pushed things forward for us as gamers.

Shame that his cancers come back after going into remission.

If you listen to the Co-Optional podcast you can hear how unwell he sounds compared to his old self...it's so sad that someone so young who, on balance, has had a positive effect on the gaming industry and made consistently good/informative content, has been given a death sentence. Really hope that some kind of breakthrough is made, and wishing all the best to his wife and child.

What as in he threw it around as an insult?

You realise that when someone says something like "I could just kill them" or "go **** yourself" they're often just venting and don't mean it literally right?

The guy actually has cancer and is dying, I'm not sure why his use of an insult is a particularly great reason to decide to be unsympathetic.

remind me when you are on your death bed to make sure I have one last dig at some totally inane crap you must have done in your lifetime.

I have blood sometimes after going to the toilet, But I think I wipe to much if that makes sense. as its not a lot and i feel sore.
How do you determine when is the right time to go, like there must have been a fair bit of blood in your case right?

Colour and context. If I had a day of boozing and bad food, and it clogs me up the next day and requires some effort to remove, a fair bit of bright blood is to be expected. I've not had any of the darker, worrisome bleeding thankfully.
