At the end of the day its all too early to determine anything. So what, Spurs have 1 point from 4 games. However, looking at the table, they are only a win off 10th spot. Obviously some of those teams are likely to pick up wins at the weekend, but not all of them.
As for Spurs aspiring to finish in the top 4. Yes this is likely to be true, its an objective for clubs like Spurs, Villa, City, Everton to do so, even Blackburn were touted as potential top 4 finishers, yet no-one is making silly remarks about them performing poorly this season. The fact is, Spurs may not be playing well, yet they have not lost games heavily this season, and arguably the hardest away game to play for any team in a season was met with a 1-1 draw, a result not likely to be bettered by many (if any) this season.
I don't recall many official comments from the club stating Tottenham will finish in the top 4 this season, in fact 90% of comments on the matter are paper talk, yet they are taken as said, yet when comments about other fans clubs are made the comments turn to they are just paper talk.....BLAH BLAH.
The transfer dealings were all mentioned in my previous post, and until this season those players coming in were the responsibility of Damien Commoli, and Ramos this season said he wanted sole responsibility and he has that. You will notice that most of the signings Commoli was involved in prior to Ramos arrival no longer play for the club.
Tottenham are in a transitional period like you get when all new managers take control, and the true Tottenham fans will judge Ramos on his peformance come the end of the season, not just on 4 games. They play Thursday night at home in Europe I believe, and if they pick up a win there I am pretty certain it will kick start their season, as football at the end of the day is down to confidence and it is evident from the Villa game, Tottenham are lacking that.
Tottenham on their day, with confidence can beat anyone, last season proved that (wins against Chelsea, Arsenal) but at the moment they dont believe in themselves and the excuses that the sale of Keane and Berbatov do not wash.
Ramos doesnt like Berbatov's attitude, yet as a player he is key to any team when in the mood. His sale and Keanes were known about, but obviously Ramos decided he didnt need anyone else other than Bent and Pavyluchenko (sp) to spearhead his campaign, and thats because he is usually a 1 striker manager. Time will tell if this is the case, at the end of the day, Bent has 2 Premier League goals which is more than the majority of other top strikers this season (Torres, Berbatov, Keane, Rooney).
I would still go as far as saying that Spurs will hit the top half of the table and it wouldn't surprise me if they win yet more silverware this season, although it wont be the UEFA Cup which they would prefer because with Pavyluchenko cup tied and pretty certain Campbell wont be allowed by Utd to play, Bent wont score enough to win them that.
