Tottenham will get 3rd BOTTOM next season

(when he actually plays :p).

.

Exactly, any team that has him on his is books, gets lumbered with his wages, and not his services, so he is a pointless signing.

Far better to have someone who can actually turn out and play every week as opposed to having someone who could very well be the best defender ever, but is sat in the stands with his feet up.

Yeah I agree with this definitely. I thought you were questioning his talent rather than his absenteeism.

Man City (splashing out the big £££) and Everton are more likely to land in 4th I'm afraid, but I'd be expecting them to fight over 5th as I can't see the big 4 stumbling that much. The gap might look a bit closer, as they were all in the CL to the final stages...

Why all the Woodgate bashing? Since he came back from his nightmare at Real Madrid I think he's proved himself:

2006-2007 = 36 appearances (all comps)
2007-2008 = 37 appearances (inc 19 for boro & 1 for England)

I really hope Modric puts in a performance today or at least shows some potential! Looking forward to seeing him play for us :D

Only bet im taking on Spurs is that they hopefully get relegated next season:p...2nd or 3rd place next season...your having a ****ing laugh mate...thats the funniest thing ive heard for awhile. Ill have to ask my spur supporting mates and see what they say...i have a funny feeling that they wont see it the way you are mate.

No, he is referring to the games between Arsenal and Spurs, and I am pretty sure they only played 4 times last season, but I have slept since then, so would need to check

I kinda meant in reference to the 'Spurs are as good as Arsenal and we don't need to worry about them anymore' argument, wasn't there 30+ points between the two teams? That's a hell of a statement.

.. Admittedly I chose the wrong post to quote :p

Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton all have way better chances of being in the top 3 than Spurs. I can't see it happening.

Actually thats bull but there you go.

No team has any more chance than any other team of finishing anywhere, its all predictions and what ifs...

Spurs had 2 seasons where they finished 5th, and one of those seasons they just missed out an 4th (it was probably a omen anyway). Everyone was then predicting Spurs to go and break the top 4, they, on paper strengthened their side. Even Jose was expecting them to challenge.

Then, for some reason they stopped playing, Jol lost all respect of the players and the board were trying to replace him in the worst possible way. No-one had predicted it.

Although you didn't say it, many people are saying Man City and Portsmouth have more chance of hitting the top 4 than Spurs. How? They had one "lucky" season (I say lucky because thats the only season where they have done anything in years). Yet amazingly, Man City, who struggled to finish the season are suddenly more than likely to finish above Spurs this season, and possibly give more of a challenge to the top 4

Anyone remember Everton? After they broke into the top 4 everyone was expecting them to go and do the same every year. They strengthened their side for the next season and finish lower end of the table, closer to relegation than the top 10.

Teams have one bad season and everyone expects them to struggle forever and suddenly they become mid table teams. After Arsenal struggled into 4th three seasons ago after very successful seasons prior to that not one person was expecting them to struggle the season after, why? Because they realise that one season blip doesnt mean anything. If it had happened the season after then maybe people would have started to question it.

If Spurs struggle to finish in the top 6 next time then yes, people can begin to write them off as ever being potential CL participants but I for one think they will qualify through Europe through the league next time, and no, it wont be the CL.

The teams last 4 season finishes (last season first):

Everton: 5th, 6th, 11th, 4th
Spurs: 11th, 5th, 5th, 9th
Man City: 9th, 14th, 15th, 8th
Portsmouth: 8th, 9th, 17th, 16th
Blackburn: 7th, 10th, 6th, 15th
Aston Villa: 6th, 11th, 16th, 10th

No they weren't

The only chance one of the Everton, Spurs, City etc bunch have of getting into the top 4 is if one of the top 4 have a shocking season and they have a great season and even then it would be extremely difficult for them to qualify again the next season as one season in the CL wouldn't be enough to build a squad as strong as the top 4's.

I wasn't talking about the general public, I was referring to the pundits and analysts, the so called people that know a bit about football. As I said, even Jose was expecting Spurs to begin challenging for the Top 4.

As for the strength of the top 4. The possibility of Spurs/Everton/City (with their cash) of having a squad as strong as the those sides in the top 4 won't take regular trips into the CL to achieve.

Look at Arsenal this season. When they lost their players through injury they couldn't buy a win. They haven't exactly looked like rectifying that so far this close season. They have sold Flamini and Hleb looks likely to follow. There has been suggestions of players coming in, but nothing has yet happened.

As with most seasons for Arsenal, they are always linked to the best players in the world (and rightly so) but they never actually sign these players. If they lose Hleb and they don't replace them with quality (and not a kid that might become the next Fabregas in a few seasons) then they might struggle when they get injuries again next season.

Having a strong first XI won't ensure your top 4 finish forever if your not bringing in quality back up players to help out when needed (injuries/tiredness).

Flamini wasn't sold. He was out of contract. There's still 2 whole months (best part of 3) left to buy players left too. Vela has come in too.

I have no idea why the press link us with these players. When does Wenger purchase 'known world class' players?

Right I've worked this out. Spurs Average over past 4 years = 7.5 place. Divided by the number of managers, coaches and caretaker managers in that time comes to 1.875 which means we'll get 2nd place.

You can't argue with numbers! :D
However, was the drag coefficient of Jol's forehead included in that calculation?

THis thread is hilarious

How many months was it since the carling cup victory and the end of the season??

Ramos was in charge for a LARGE part of last season and you were still pants towards the end of the season, didnt you concede nearly as many goals as wigan?? lol!!

Dont see why people are going crazy over santos, none of the big clubs in spain were after him and barca let him go for less than 5 million? hardly the sign of a world class talent, more than likely barca let him go because hes way overhyped
