Township Tale

Shi and I pushed passed the tree people, only dying a few times... and got to some tribal campsite type things. Found some more chests in them, some more map markers (mostly empty spaces though), but also 2 buildables. One crosses a river, and I'm not sure where it goes, the other basically bypasses the need to fight a ton of tree people, which is really handy. I have the iron for the handy one (the other is just wood and grass).

Need to collect some wood and grass to build them both now and explore some more.

Also found a heartflower, which gives a permenant boost to health :).

edIT - Axe and shield definitely seems like the best combo against the tree people. 2 handed weapons just mean you get shot a lot.

Hey guys room for one more in the town? :)

I'll be honest I've kept away from anything multiplayer for a while as my broadband has been so atrocius (I'm currently resorting to using a 4g BB solution) but I really want to try this out and all your adventures are making it sound a lot of fun.
Good news is that in 2 weeks (fingers crossed) I'll be getting FTTP broadband so all my spped/latencytroubles should be resolved. I would really like to have a dabble in the meantime though and see how I get on.

@melmac can you add me to your server mate?

I take it the best way to start though is to play through the tutorial Solo and then try out the server play?

Do the tutorial, but I think you can learn more, and more easily, from people on a populated server.

Oh yeah, I got rid of the lantern attachment and gone with an extra pouch instead. Can now teleport to high places without taking off my backpack.

Also, I tried taking 100 wood out of the one of the bins beside the Carpentry building. It wouldn't let me, I could only take 50. I had to take some out of the second bin. Is there some kind of withdrawal limit per day? Worse than a bank!! :p

Yep, 50 a day per storage, plus anything you put in there that day. So make sure we store wood elsewhere as well for bigger projects. I completed the little rickety bridge across the river, that brings you to the blacksmith shrine, which is just behind the blacksmith. Need 15 gold, some wood and grass to complete that. We don't have the gold to do it yet, I was going to go and hunt rock men, as they drop gold ore every now and then, but got distracted.

I definitely didn't get distracted by learning that the ridiculously oversized sword I made is very useful for hooking your backpack out of the deep water next to the carpentry building so you can pick it up, and not just stare at it with all your good stuff in....

Trying to get us to 15 gold ingots so we can go straight to the camps via the blacksmith. Slowly getting there by killing rockmen.

I reckon next time we can get on with a few of us (3+) we go mining again, and just head straight to the crystal level, grabbing rocks and crystals.

Unseul, you left just as I was going into the game to set up Rocksteddy.

I did a bit of maze exploring. You know there is a path leading up so you can walk along the top of the maze, there are a few chests and shrine up there. Also found another place to use dynamite. If I go back in later going to blow that wall up.

Oh, I almost forgot, found a recipe in one of those chests. It was for a 16 slot backpack!!

EDIT: Apparently it's a hoarders bag. Looks great, hard to build on the Quest version because of rarity of large leather roll drops :(

I've found a way up there before with teleporting.

Hoarders bag looks awesome, but you're right, large leather rolls will be a problem. I don't know if we have any? Looks like the large ones have rope around them. I guess we basically go wyrm hunting every dust ball chest run anyway.

EDIT - 3 large rolls required! That'll take a while. But 4 attachment points. So maybe Ore, Wood, potion and lantern?

Just a note. Carrying 15 gold ingots makes you realllllly slow. Especially when carrying 150 pieces of wood too...

However, after a very slow walk, the back way to the camps is now open at the back of the blacksmiths.

not a lot i can do on my own

went down the mines, scary on your own, light is terrible (but to be expected)
got a few rocks from first level down, didnt want to go further just in case i died (no potion with me for starters)

hmm

Yeah, mines are scary on your own. Rock people don't scare me too much, but the fact wyrms can pop up anywhere is worrying. Even if the acid doesn't hurt that much.

We can always do with more wood, there's a stairway at the dust bowl that you can teleport around, but it wouldn't be bad if it was built. With enough wood I believe we can use it for lamps and the blacksmith stuff too, not to mention cooking.

Nails need small hammer heads, the forge is good with the large one (not quite the largest though, that's tough to work with).

I don't think we have the recipe for the smaller 1 handed handle yet, that fits hammers nicely, but it might be the one I've put the pickaxes on, which is in the recipe books. It's 2 wood blocks long (so 12 pieces of wood).

Red iron, 1 ingot of copper, 1 ingot of iron. So currently, not the easiest thing to get. I've only used it so far for pickaxes, since I don't think there's anything else we really need it for (except perhaps weapons later).

Slowly getting some silver, that will be useful in a very long time, when we get low enough to mine mythril.

because of the Quest 2 rollout, they've halted house building !!

more to do ! lol

Yeah, there's a lot of content I believe in the PC version that isn't yet in the quest version. They're trying to bring them into line, so PCVR can play with Quest users.

EDIT - Then I guess they'll continue development on both.

need to make an apology to you all

I was tidying up the shelves, putting completed handles together, fireworks and TNT together etc and accidently smashed 2 bottles (1 was empty) :(

going to read up on how to make new ones and try and replace them

You're fired!

Don't worry about it! Don't think we can make new ones, but we can get more just from chests.

There is a lot of stuff on the PC Version that's not on the Quest 2 version. And the Graphics looks so much better.

Would be mad tempted to start again on the PCVR version.

Anyone be interested? I would buy the server if there is enough interest.

It's free on the PC so people wouldn't have to buy it again.

I'd be willing to try on PC, just my wifi isn't great where I am, and I don't know if the load of air linking/virtual desktop + the game, might cause ping issues for me. Willing to give it a go I guess, seeing as it's free.
