Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

I'm back in, just going to ride it out now and stop playing with it. It's all long term for me anyway.

I keep flip flopping but wondering about doing same.

On flip side I keep questioning if saving/investing is even worth it for me of I don't have kids.

Bet retirement support will be means tested and I'd be better off spending it all now! :D

FYI I bought into

Persimmon
Ezj

Just so I can look like an idiot or a genius I have a 6 months time! :D

S&S ISA with ETFs for the win :D

Loading into my house rather than private pension.
No idea if that's stupid or not.
I'm very tempted to dip into mine (I'm over 55) but have no intention of being a poor pensioner so it can stay where it is (hopefully) growing. That'll be much easier to do if the government does freeze energy costs and the world looks better by the time my fix runs out.
I'm all in VWRL now.

I'm heavy in aviva. Never took it out.
Loaded up at start of covid. Its just grown and grown.
Think my average was 250? Ish.
So it's over x2 now (would be about 550 without the buy back) plus dividend.

So yeah. Waaay over half my S&S in aviva.

I got some Persimmon too, not so sure about EasyJet - I don't see people having the spare cash to go on holidays, and it's gonna take a year or two before airports function smoothly again, and their COO quit, -- and I guess I fundamentally don't believe that the climate impact of flights is worth it, I can see it getting banned as the weather gets more extreme and people become accepting of more aggressive climate measures.

I kind of see ezj from partially anecdotal evidence. People desperately want to travel. Especially people like myself. It's the last thing I'll personally give up. And for a lot of people only escape from life.

As ezj is a budget people can drop down a rung (ie from premium to budget) and still get their holiday.

Not sure it can ever be banned. Its hugely damaging. I actually do not know what I'd do with my money if I couldn't travel.

I have a friend at Rolls, they are putting out warning for material availability for spares. I had enough of losing on EZJ so bent over and took some loss.

Just data @platinum87 , I normally post in walls of text just trying to be brief. Lots of data there :) people can check symbols themselves.
The twitter quote thing doesnt show the actual twitter just a link, the prior arrangement was better imo but lot of good people on twitter. Also try stocktwits, its all USA biased but big ftse is global anyhow, BP trades New york till 9pm etc.

I sold CHK and PSX though I think oil companies do fine long term above 80, I just trim for balance as commodities are extreme volatility quite often. CHK shows +70% ironic they went chapter 11 prior

Bloody hell.. literally

Tech getting battered. Im tech heavy in my portfolio, when do you buy in or do you cut your losses. Its not looking great short to medium term is it?
If you're in tech then you need to have a stomach for volatility be looking long term. I wouldn't touch the markets with a bargepole at the moment if I was trying to trade short term.

Big drops like today are when buyers make their money and sellers make silly mistakes!

Think about even 12 months ahead.....either the market will have recovered.....so yay....or it'll still be in the toilet, and I'll have accumulated another 12 months worth of discount stocks....so yay again.

Tech has been getting battered since late last year. This winter is not going to be a good place for tech and everything else. Short is not good but we have already seen a lot of falls. Medium I’m very hopeful for.

Buying high and selling low never appealed to me. IMO tech stocks have had their time in the sun for now and the next growth sector will come from somewhere else. Tech valuations have been crazy for a long time now and although they have fallen if you look the valuations are still very high by historical standards.

"Buying high and selling low never appealed to me"
I'm with you there, surprising how hard it is to actually achieve. I'm looking at the US tech sector and wondering where the dip actually is, is this it ? or is this just a blip with further downside to come ?
Bound to be a dead cat bounce today for day traders.
