Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Cheers matey, i'm in the Oil & Gas industry so i'm just sticking with what i know at the moment, hoping for some big gains on rising gas prices.

I'm looking into Range Resources at the moment, just read a very interesting PDF about future prospects, they have the right to the "Paradise Oil Fields", need to read into it more but talks about a 500% return if things come off, around 5p a share at the moment.

Tomorrow should be interesting I think. I have 6 oilys now :o

UEN
RKH
GKP
FOGL
BP
DES

What is it you do then?

Got 5 oilys myself, most of them are going to be long-term so it would seem (well atleast Q3 / Q4 for some), will take a look at DES this morning see if i want in, just stuck some cash into RRL, looks like things are on the up atm.

Job wise i do: On and Offshore Risk Assessment for oil and gas plants, basically looking at the plant (from a design and construction point of view) break down the systems allocate failure rates to things, look at whats on the plant (in term of hazards i.e. chemical hazards H2s etc) and model this all to give risk values (in specific plant areas and an overall risk value), then write huge reports based on this.

Thats a very basic overview it can be quite a complex process.

Range is stuck at under 5p currently, it seems stuck between 4.4 and 4.7.

RKH is falling, question is will it keep on falling all day due to the lack of news?

MTA is very cheap atm :p

I think it was a poor RNS, some big buys for MTA shares over the past few days (900k & 250k), think we can expect another RNS in 10 days time, someone is expecting some big price movement!

Felt a pain in my chest earlier, looked up and RKH were 15% down. Swiftly back to a more normal figure now :p

Do I gamble on MTA again? It's like bareback sex; potential for awesome pleasure, potential for AIDS.

Looking like Major AIDS at the moment for some people, feel sorry for those in at 5.4p for 250k's worth of shares.

However, looks like we could see 2.5 - 3p sometime soon, thats more than good enough for me!

It's not a particularly good day for the FTSE anyway.. maybe Cameron telling everyone we're in more **** than we thought will help?

Quick question.

I signed upto x-o.co.uk a few weeks ago and have been looking around the site. When buying shares there's a Settlement Offset option with values of 3,5,10,20,25 days.

What does this mean?

that's when you actually pay for the shares. you buy them but only settle the account after the set amount of days.

Settlement period is basically when the cash exchanges. Also known as a t-date or trade date. 3 days is usual and often incurs no extra cost. Longer t-dates incur extra costs as it allows a trader to get into a share, take profits and get back out again without actually having any cash change hands.
