Baz, we've been linked with him all summer, and as many point out, we need good quality squad players in the range of 15-20million to compete, he fits the mold perfectly, doesn't break the bank and adds talent/depth to multiple positions, so whether he remains first 11 or not in future, he was the type we'd need to transition back towards the top 4.

Well they don't have long to complete it do they? And how long has this being going on for? Lvg just said we'd have to see or whatever. It wasn't a resounding, yes he'll be here tomorrow. Far from it he was like 'I don't know'. Maybe it's nothing

You do know that the deal is complete, don't you?

He has signed the contract, the transfer is done. It's the work permit that is being waited for, and the transfer was not subject to a work permit.

I'm not so sure. You needed more depth at cb which Rojo provided but with so few games this season you don't need squad players in midfield when you've already got Fletcher and Carrick. The priority had to be a first team CM.

There's no logical reason for the Blind deal taking so long unless he was seen as a fall back option should you not be able to get your first choice targets.

I know we all like to think clubs are stupid but Utd weren't going to sit around doing sod all for 2 months and wait until the last minute to sign a player without good reason.

That's what I thought but presumably the transfer is subject to wp approval?

You can sign a player without them being legally able to play for you. The transfer is complete, he's a Utd player. Whether he'll actually be able to work (play) for them is subject to the work permit being granted.

Noooooo! That was the one bit of transfer business that Chelsea had failed in up to now. Its not fair. You can't bring in Fabregas and Costa on the cheap AND sell Torres.

LOL.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
So lets summarise, Chelsea have arguably the best manager.
Arguably the best midfielder (Fabregas) AND they have got rid of the waste of space that is Torres.

If I were a Chelsea supporter, I'd be thinking that anything less than 2 premiership titles in a row would be utter failure.

Torres was the guy who was holding the team back. When he was on the pitch, it was as if Chelsea were playing with 10 men...or even 9.

I guess Mourinho was the only manager who had the foresight to realise that Torres is just a terrible player. Something that the Spain manager could've learnt from and also Benitez, when he paid £50M (ridiculous), for Torres.

Think its all wrapped up in this courtcase with ex neighbour, not to do with 3rd party ownership

Blind could have been signed months ago, why wait till 2 days before the transfer window closes, maybe to make it fresh in the minds of supporters who are crying out for signings?
