Transgender MTF picked for Olympics weightlifting

All hail Courtney Dauwalter.

I look at these people with a mixture of awe and horror. Also just LOL at the calorie demands these people require.

A guy I know via social media went from bodybuilder to powerlifter to ultra-endurance cyclist and ended up winning the 2018 Indy Pacific - an amateur 5,500km race across the Southern part of Australia from East to West, and then the 2019 Trans Am - a 6,800km amateur race from the West to East coast of America - in a record time of 16 days, nine hours and 56 minutes. Literally cycle and eat on as little sleep as possible without dropping from exhaustion.

Given the length of time these things take I wonder how viable they might be as spectator or commercial sports in the way something like Tour De France is.

Straying somewhat off topic but the earlier Tour races were much more extreme millage on jankier bikes without team support like as it is today. It would be fun to take today's modern riders and replace their nutrition, training and bikes then make them compete against the legends of the past. Then at the end of the day instead of the post race massage they have to wash their own kit.

There is nothing wrong with women competing against women, they have there own separate women only events for that so its a level playing field.
This a trans women competing against women though, they are not the same no matter what the "rules" say.

The IOC state you are wrong and they are a more credible sporting body.

2. Those who transition from male to female are eligible to compete in the female category.

If, by "women", you mean the gender identity then it's pretty simple to explain.

Males, as a group, have a natural advantage over females in almost all athletic events as a result of this we have separate men's and women's events in sport so that females can compete and be represented too.

A male identifying as a woman still has those male advantages, they might suppress testosterone bit but that's only part of it, in competing they undermine the purpose of the separate events.

Well, at least you are trying to delineate between biological sex and gender identity of men and women.

Can you explain the IOC's decision to allow trans gender athletes to compete?

Doesn't mean they are right, you can think they are right or agree with them if you like.

They are only taking into account testosterone levels from a quick search, like that is enough to look at for some reason ignoring biological differences.
They are also using a old study from 2015 I believe, there has been more recent studies which point out the differences beyond just hormone levels, they need to re-evaluate their rules.

Also yes RIP biological female athletes, its going to get worse.
The current "rules" are very open to abuse and being called a bigot if you don't agree.
