Transgender MTF picked for Olympics weightlifting

What a crazy ****** up world we live in now if this is deemed normal....

I hope (s)he gets absolutely mullered by the real women and he decides to **** off from the sport.

Split the competition into male and female instead of men's and women's sports. That solves everything right?

This woman will always be biological male (science) and therefore only allowed to compete with other males. She can do that as a woman if she pleases.

That's too logical. And probably offends some people for not being inclusive enough.

Fear of offence being taken is probably a factor why sports bodies haven't done it.

What problems would it create? I, rather ignorantly I expect, can't see many major ones. Other than the opportunity for offence to be taken or depriving a MTF the chance to destroy some biological females at their sport for the lols.

I’m all for inclusivity but this does seem inherently unfair to women. Although…

Being forced to call him a woman is like Winston being forced to say 2+2=5.

The patients are running the asylum.
I don’t know where the ‘force’ is coming from on this, but I don’t have any problem calling or referring to someone who wishes to be treated as a woman as ‘she’.

I believe this is a direct consequence of the Caster Semenya case, where rather than make the hard decision they created a fudge to allow anyone to complete in the women’s sports as long as they limited their testosterone levels.

Won't solve everything but would be fairer on competitors.

spot on.

Yes. This seems to be a driving force behind these kinds of decisions.

No no of course. No ones forcing you. It’s just if you don’t then you’ll get fired and publicly shamed on social media :). But you’re not forced of course.

So many people living in the world of ‘ought’ and not in the world of ‘is’.

It depends on the context I suppose. If you are conversing with someone who wishes to be referred to as she, and you intentionally refer to them as he (as if to make some sort of point) then it just makes you a bit of a nob. Likewise, if you refuse to make such such a small concession for the benefit of another generally, it probably doesn’t send out ‘good vibes’ about your personality.

Whilst I think gender is pretty flexible, I do think that retaining the idea of ‘biological sex’ (i.e. the one you are born as) definitely has a value in the context of things like athletics. It seems wrong that someone who has the advantages of being a male can be allowed to compete against females who lack those advantages.

I did a quick check on relative athletic performance when I read about something the other day.

I looked at the 2016 Olympic women's 100m final and compared it to school and college athletics in the US for this year. This years fastest 100m in boys athletics Middle School (so 14 years old) would have come 4th or 5th the 2016 women's Olympic final. High School and College runners would have wiped the board.

The gap in performance is just too big to allow this kind of idiocy, it will destroy women's sport.

I'm honestly pretty sure I have low testosterone.

Cant gain mass off any kind on my body except the fat on my stomach, and was always atrocious at sports and co ordination events.

Except I'm also weaker than same aged females so I can't go winning gold medals in women's sports.

I'm pretty sure you're just an attention seeker, most of your posts are me me me.

It's quite easy to get your T levels checked instead of self-diagnosing.
