I can't be bothered to read through the last 6 pages so don't know if this has been mentioned. This isn't an AMD specific feature and it is also going to run on Nvidia cards according to this article: http://gamerhorizon.com/tomb-raider-to-use-new-tressfx-technology/

"TressFX will not be limited to AMD graphics cards. Any DirectX 11 GPU, whether it be from AMD or nVidia, will be able to take advantage of the technology."
 
Was doing a bit of digging into this and from a quick glance with the nature of the processing - linked lists, vectorised data, etc. they've probably implemented it in a way that plays well to AMD's architecture especially the older superscalar evergreen (the mention of performing well on the 5850 is telling) which probably means that it will work well on 5800 series GPUs*, work OK on GCN and work fairly well on Kepler despite its gimped compute performance as Kepler's scheduler can do rudimentary ILP but will suffer somewhat on Fermi based GPUs.



* In terms of processing the tressFX workload, probably be somewhat let down by the rendering side compared to some of the other GPUs.

^^ Stock went out today, some places already recieved stock for booking in. Don't think anywhere is "allowed" to send it out til the 4th tho and not "supposed" to sell over the counter til the 5th.
 
I think they might have under-estimated demand for this game unless theres more stock in the pipeline I don't know about - most individual stores were only getting 3 copies for xbox and 3 copies for PS3 and very limited PC copies.

They only getting one PC copy in, Mine haha, as I'm the only one that asked.
