Gonna save up my XP for the sniper class then me thinks. I'm getting the hang of the movement.

What game modes do most people here play? I'm just playing TDM to get to grips with it. Are there better modes?

CTF is the best.

The game is based around CTF you actually have roles, where classes come in handy:

- Capper (Pathfinder)
- Light Defence (Soldier / Technician / Sentinel)
- Light Offense (Raider)
- Heavy Offense (Juggernaut)
- HoF (Doombringer)
- Chaser (Pathfinder)

None of which you have in TDM. :D

Yep ctf is what tribes is all about. Can get pretty intense if you get decent teams. The snipers falcon is pretty sick also. I think you can test out weapons before u buy them in the training modes.

I've spent £7 on the game and bought the jammer pack and the bolt launcher through daily deals and still have about 850 gold left. Other than that, I've unlocked stuff through xp in not very much time at all. The only reason you might want to spend more is if you want to have almost every class set up the way you want so you can switch between them. If there's only a couple classes you want to play, then you can sort them out mostly through xp. It's a good payment method I think.

Agreed the new upgrade system should speed up unlocking items for players not using boosters/VIP. Can you still get VIP nowadays?

Has anyone noticed any difference in the dualing disc and mid air hits? Also I tried rage out and like it but still feel activation area should be larger.

I think so yes.

Other than the fact it does much more damage (110) no.

I tried chasing the other day and had great success just running Lightweight + Reach or Safe Fall, at the very least I was able to kill the flag carrier, but sometimes got chained down from people in the midfield going for the pick up.

Drydock, Crossfire and maybe BE side of Kata chasing seems viable now, especially with the Lightweight perk.. Most of the routes aren't too fast < 300 so one or two nitrons and you're close enough to do something about the capper.

Some routes just seem unchasable, Raindance back to front for example, the one that goes over the hill (300-350) grab, I don't think can be chased.. due to the fact that you have to make it over the gigantic hill, by the time you get to the other side the capper is well across half the map.

Yea its not as bad as i expected. Still easily fully upgrade with XP if you dont play with it much or just use it and it naturally does.

Got the 8800GTX installed and it runs 1920/1200 medium settings at 60fps pretty well. Really impressed considering its probably 4 years old.

Wow, saved 7k xp for the sniper class, seriously regret it.

The zoom on the rifle is **** poor considering the scale of the map. Like shooting at ants.

The damage is terrible, and yes I am charging it all the way up, it takes 3 hits to kill even the lightly armoured classes. Are there headshots in this game?

Disappointed :(

Yea there is headshots but there hard to get. The only class the sniper needs to hit is the pathfinder and then just to mess up the regen on route is normally enough.

The new Brute Spinfusor is a monster, so much fun to use.. was called a 'pay to win noob' earlier when midairing some offensive DMB three times in a row with it (Juggling him about). :p

I've not been using XP on upgrades at all, I've just using them and getting the unlocks. It's not taking too long, it would be twice as quick with a boost too.

Well ive tried the lightweight perk a few times now and just cant get on with it. You will normally get to the otherside of the map without regen and then the enemy team will easy kill you as you wont even have half health left.

This was probably the most dominant ive been as a chaser. I know its a pub and there mostly nubs but I was playing really well.

I dont really think the recent update has changed anything in pubs.

I have mixed feelings about Lightweight, but I certainly think it's a better chasing perk than Rage.. my opinions of Rage are it's absolutely useless.

Lightweight on the other hand has a consistent effect, two nitrons will get you up to 280km/h with no problems at all, leaving you with about 300 health.

My unsuccessful chasing attempts seem to be mainly down to taking damage before the capper has even come in, leaving me to either wait for health regeneration (1 minute) and chase with half health (only able to use one nitron) or just suicide, often I'll suicide only for the capper to be half way across the map by the time I respawn.

Normally when the capper actually manages to hit the stand while I'm on full health, I more often than not seem to do quite well at stopping them.

It seems pretty rare getting chained down on pub play, and when I do it's generally when I'm coming in for a return after killing the capper.
I figure in competitive play you'll get chained down in seconds however.

Maybe a slightly less potent Egocentric effect on the Lightweight perk would help? This would allow you to throw two nitrons and still have about 400/500 health left, if you wanted to live life on the edge you could even throw a third.. leaving you with about 100/200 health but giving you some crazy 300+ speed, but obviously you would be a sitting duck.

Also:

Since the Raider nerf I can't get 50+ kills per game, boo hoo. :(

Right now i think lightweight regen is 60 seconds right? I feel if it was dropped to 40 seconds it would help. What about a new class just for chasing? A mix of the best bits of both pathfinder and soldier. Just with some downside if you take flag so cappers dont use it.

How do you use nitrons to get you going that fast? Fastest I can get up to is 240 but normally around 180. I have tried turning around to use the disk to propel myself however it either doesn't have that much effect or I do loads of damage to myself.

Just speced someone who had 260kph speed the previous round and worked it out :D Was doing 250-280 hehe. Even had a couple of times when I mistimed a big jump and went splat lol
