Tueday Carling Cup Spoilers

Well played to Wigan.

First chance in their history to win something major.

Fantastic news. Hope Blackburn get into the final now.

Really don't deserve that at all. Outplayed Wigan, played them off the park, win the game, and go out on a crap rule. Having said that if we had played like that in the first leg it would have been all over at the JJB. Pollit was MoTM which says it all really, although we should have taken at least one of our other chances.

Fair play to Wigan, I personally hope they win it.

Just serves to illustrate why I disagree with the 'conventional wisdom' which says that in two-legged ties, it's better to play the away leg first, and then bring them back to your place. By playing the away leg second, you get 120mins in which to score an away goal, compared with only 90.

Fantastic midtable clash.

Best team over two legs won, despite the best efforts of Phil Dowd.

Wenger leads his team of rapidly degrading gunners out of another semi final defeat in the worthless cup.

It's laid out in that same way in the Champions League. Arsenal play away first, and yet we are supposedly getting the advantage for winnning the group. :(

Oh well, out of the worthless cup, no big deal really.

I think we'll find it very hard at the weekend as well, then we can concentrate on the CL and qualifying for the same tournament next season.

Well done Wigan and enjoy your day out in Cardiff. :)

What a fantastic game, thoroughly enjoyed that. All credit to Wigan, just had a feeling Roberts was going to get one in, one of his chances had to go in :p

Have to admit i had a lump in my throat at the end of the game, Fighting spirit to the end. Jewell has to be up for some awards this season, even though a while to go yet...

:D

I noticed that there was no hand shake at the end of the match, just shows how much ARSEnal hate to lose.
No interview with sky sports either

Gotta give credit to Welhan at the end with the disabled fans, great gesture, sure he made their night even more special.

COME ON YOU PIE EATERS!!!!!!!!!!

5th in the league, out of the micky mouse cup despite fielding a strong side and bolton away in the FA Cup?

When's that Arsenal end of season DVD coming out then? :p

Well considering we have actually played in it, Spurs haven't, that was my point. Heck they haven't been in Europe since 1999-2000. I remember Everton fans getting very excited about Champions League football last year, and look what happened.

Yes Spurs have 3 European Trophies, Arsenal have 2 (should be 3 but we were robbed by a crooked ref). We also have 13 Championships to their 2, and 10 FA Cups to their 8. (3 doubles to 1) We also haven't been out of the top 2 for 8 seasons.

I know which boat I'd rather be in.

First leg of the semi was a reserve team (well to be fair, there was 1 out of the 11 I'd have in my first team). The match with first choice team, we won :)

As for the end of season DVD, god knows what's in store for that, as we are still in 2 cups and have another 16 matches left in the league. I know you may be accustomed to being able to summarise your season in January, but we'll have to hold our horses for a while yet I'm afraid :(
